With Lewis definitely and Calsh most likely not playing round one (or is there any update on the latter?),
I imagine we will know at the end of the month if it's healingnat the typical rate, which is at least 6 weeks under no stress.

B: Hardwick, Barras, Impey

HB: Scrimshaw, Battle, Sicily

C: Day, Worpel, Weddle

HF: MacDonald, Gunston, Moore

F: Ginnivan, Chol, Watson

R: Meek, Newcombe, Nash

INT: D’Ambrosio, MacKenzie, Amon, Ward, Breust (Sub)

EMG: Frost, Jiath, Maginness

Swans aren’t beating this team.

B: Frost - Barass - Scrimshaw
HB: Sicily - Battle - Amon
C: Mackenzie - Worpel - D’Ambrosio
HF: MacDonald - Weddle - Moore
F: Watson - Chol - Hardwick
R: Meek - Newcombe - Day

INT: Nash - Impey - Ginnivan - Ward - Gunston

So much flexibility. Maybe swap Impey and Frost if needing more run from backline. Gunners ready to roll as sub if forward line is struggling.

Not saying this will happen but is what I’d like.

Battle Barrass Hardwick
Sicily Frost Impey
Amon Newc Mas
Ginni Scrim Moore
Wiz Chol McDonald
Meek Worpel Day
Weddle Nash Ward McKenzie McGuinness

I don't mind Scrimshaw at CHF. On the few occasions he has been thrown forward, he has looked dangerous. Doubt it will happen, but IMO the only things seriously wrong with your team is the spelling of Maginness.

With Lewis definitely and Calsh most likely not playing round one (or is there any update on the latter?), how likely is it that Sammy will throw Scaife (or maybe even Ramma) to the wolves in round one, or is a makeshift tall forward line more likely, taken from the likes of Chol, Gunners, Sic and Battle?
The latter for mine. Scaife or Ramma would need to improve significantly across this preseason to be pushing up to that level. Hope they do but without them Dear and Lewis there are already multiple options using proven players. Weddle an option too. It’s exciting and unpredictable.

Agree, I'd say Chol, Gunston + options of Battle, Sicily, Weddle and maybe a surprise of Serong, Scrimshaw or Frost up forward.

However some of our best games last year were without Gunston and were Chol and Dear with 5 smalls (Moore, Ginni, Wiz, Macdonald, Breust) Moore, Macdonald and Ginni would get up the ground a lot and confuse opposition defenders not knowing who is the mid and who is the forward, so sometimes a back flank defender stays in the contest thinking they are on Macdonald while Moore who had been up the ground for the last few stoppages was matched up to a midfielder who stayed at the stoppage not realising Moore would swap back forward. This was games where Breust wasn't sub either, started on ground.

This worked really well at times so I could see those 5 or Hardwick/Butler added. Moore and Hardwick also can play as small Full Forwards as their movement and leading is top notch (see Hardwick vs Collingwood and Port or Moore vs North Melbourne)

Chol - regular forward
Gunston - regular forward
Sicily - backman who has competently played AFL football as a
forward
Battle - backman who has competently played AFL football as a forward.

Nothing “makeshift” about that.

Would be more of a surprise if Scaife or Ramsden were selected before rolling one of Sicily or Battle forward given their experience and versatility.

2 years ago it was Fergus Greene and Jacob Koschitzke.
