Younger Player Quality

Best
1. Blues (esp. KP forwards and midfield. Top-shelf)
2. Daylight
3. Hawks (Very promising, but bizarre coaching)
4. Bulldogs (Sensational medium-sized players but No KP forwards)

Worse
1. Pies (poor recruiting post GF losses)
2. Dons (consequence of top-up policy: 2003-2007 (Aka) )
3. Port (old slow)
4. North (Don’s style top-up biting)
5. Weagles (recent additions = middle-of-the-road)

:)

Too bad theres no wingers defenders or ruckmen ruckmen

Ever seen Kade Smpson or Andrew Walker play?

Yes there backflankers. Walker couldnt hit a beached whale and Simpson is just too slow

Yes id much rather have a list of generic hacks (Carlton) than a list of genuine young guns (us)

:D

Plus a few others. Think J Russell's on the wing this week. And Bower's looking like having a go there when he makes his long awaited debut. Also pencil in Ryan Jackson who's dominating at VFl level, and will be a certain rookie promotion at the end of the year. Edwards also. So that's 6 very talented wing options - not bad actually. :)

We did have alot of kids palying yesterday. In the HUN it mentioned that at one stage we had a forward line that consisted of Murphy, Franklin and Dowler. None of them above the age of 19.
Sewell had 12 possesions to quarter time, Birchall 24 for the game, Gilham had 15 and was very solid in his debut down back and Bailey is learning the ropes in the ruck.
Can't wait to see Ellis, Muston and Josh Kennedy next year.

For all most posters know, a team like West Coast could have some wonderful youngsters. We just don't get to see them because their side's too strong for them to get a crack. Same goes for some of the other leading sides.

From what I've seen, I reckon Brisbane has a terrific list of kids. They'll be back in the premiership race within a couple of seasons.

They do? Roughead, Franklin, Lewis, Birchall, Dawson vs Deledio, Raines, Tambling, Polo, Shulz, Thursfield. Im really not seeing the big gap you all speak of.

Same goes for Carlton, Brisbane and Port. Also, interesting Jeremias you'd suggest Brisbane's kids are better than ours after Saturday night: Just a tad biased maybe? ;)

Why would I be biased towards Brisbane?

Who said there was a big gap between the kids of Richmond and Hawthorn? Not me-All I said was that there IS a gap, and I will stick by my convictions.

Carlton, Port and Brisbane all clearly have a better list of kids than Richmond. Sure, there is some promising signs in the youth of the Tigers, but i see more promise in the other teams.

Your youth was not the only thing that set the Tigers apart from the Lions on Saturday night. Your experienced players also played a huge part in the big win. I still maintain that Brisbane's kids are better than Richmond's-one result will NOT sway me otherwise. Teams have bad games, on other occassions they have excellent games. That's part of being a side pushing youth through. Going by your logic, based on last weeks results, Carlton are better than Melbourne because we beat them. This is clearly not the case, our youth really showed up on the day and put in a magnificent performance.

Nah man, you definately cant rate kids who havent played/done anything yet. They might be high picks, but until they show it on the field in the seniors it doesnt count. Otherwise this thread might as well be "which team has had the most high picks?". Just clearing it up.

Id like to see you write down a list of each clubs kids (who have played some games!) and say exactly why, instead of just stating "these clubs have better kids". At the moment, I just fail to see how Carlton's kids have shown more than Richmond's kids to this date.

Btw, I understand your point about one game not being totally conclusive, but I would've thought it was pretty hard to decide before the game, and the results of the game would've made it hard to claim that Brisbane's kids are better. Anyway, if thats your opinion then so be it, but don't try and make it sound like a fact, because I have faith in the fact that Richmond's picks over the last 3 years will do very well for us in the future.

Three of the Six I mentioned have played seniors and have shown they have bright futures.

Richmond may not have the best list of pups, but im pretty content with out crop.

Carlton? Please. There 'kids' are 22/23 and most struggle.

If HAwthorn don't have the best - yes better then Port, Richmond and Melbourne, there is something seriously wrong with our recruiting staff.

JUst curiously, I'd like to know where the 3 above teams have it over Hawthorn?

I'll rank the HAwthorn Richmond youngsters combined

Deledio
Franklin
Raines
Lewis
Roughead
Birchall
TAmbling
Polo
Thursfield.

All quality

But where Hawthorn really >>>> Richmond IMO is with Ellis, Muston, Dowler and BAiley.

There have been huge wraps on Dowler - who has been a little rusty after being out for most of the year, Ellis and Muston.

Relax man. They havn't played a game yet.

At this stage Matty White > Hawthorn 2006 draft crop.

Richmond fans don't see to including Hughes (also had his fair share of wraps), JON (190cm, faster/more agile than Lids) or Casserly in the debate, do they?

Kids, especially in this thread have been considered 22/23 years old and younger. Our list of players in this age bracket that make the list of kids look so impressive are:

Andrew Walker
Jordan Russell
Marc Murphy
Josh Kennedy
Kade Simpson
Luke Blackwell
Brad Fisher
Setanta O'hAilpin
Eddie Betts
Jarrad Waite
Bret Thornton
Adam Bentick
Andrew Carrazzo

A very impressive list, and most certainly do NOT struggle. Now you show us your list of kids, and we will see who's is better.

Its an alright list, not nearly as good as you make it out to be and i have no doubt that Richmond have more quality, BTW its about time Waite was taken off of these lists his 23 and will be 24 at the start of next season, not a kid. And Setanta O'hAilpin, no good at all, should just get rid of him.

Brett Deledio
Richard Tambling
Andrew Raines
Nathan Foley
Danny Meyer
Dean Polo
Adam Pattison
Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls
Matthew White
Will Thursfield
Jay Schulz
Cleve Hughes
Cameron Howat
Brent Hartigan

Plus we have others who have shown a bit like Dean Limbach, Luke McGuane, Travis Casserly who could be good players in the AFL, plus a rookie listed player Angus Graham who has a lot of potential.
Dont let a few priority picks let you get confused Richmonds young brigade is better then Carltons and many many others
