I don't particularly hate Melbourne mate, I am just bemused by many of the Demon cartel (the 3 kids with all the usernames) that think they can prove peoples opinions incorrect, but effectively shouting at them.

It reeks of desperation.

What reeks of desperation is your obsession with the MFC, and really if you know that they're just kids then why bother?

I love that even the norf supporters have shinboner sprit entrenched into their DNA. Every Melbourne poll or thread has an inevitable bevy of Norf supports bleating about their middle of the road kids.

Fact is they are jealous of their up town rivals. We clearly have a better list, with great depth and most importantly we have a much more viable future backed up by continued record year on year membership growth despite limited on field success.

North were arguably the team of the decade in the 90’s yet despite the dominance you’d think that would have translated to memberships now. Kids that were 6-7 yo at the time and forming allegiances would now be around 18 and buying memberships in their own rights.

Yet, amazingly, we beat your superior list with an even younger side.

How on earth could that possibly happen?

Someone must be telling lies.

Logic would suggest it's the folks that continually attempt to deflect the subject with unrelated membership issues.

well carlton beat geelong... does that mean carlton has a superior list to geelong?

you claim that melbourne fans deflect talk to member issues
north supporters always deflect any criticism with their claims of
1. we beat you
2. in 3 years we will beat you
3. we have uncompromising young players, with no outstanding skill... BUT THEY ARE HARD AT IT
4. we are younger than you, btw how much younger was norths side than melbourne??? the way you are going on about it there must have been a significant gap, e.g. 4-5 years???

i think it was probably more like 1/2 a year to a year difference

I am fully aware of the North midfield deficiencies. We will need to produce at least another couple of Wells/Anthony type players by then in order to be a contender.
Contenders in recent years have featured Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Ling, Selwood etc at the Cats; Hayes, Montagna, Goddard at the Saints; Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Embley at the Eagles. Do you seriously think with the addition of a few more Wells/Anthony types you would have the star quality in your midfield to contend for a flag?

Talks cheap.

Reality is, we wiped our ass' with you, and will do it again.

North win games ugly, you lack genuine class all over the ground.

You beat us at the dome and no doubt you’ve had the wood over us of late, but their are 14 other teams you have to beat to win a premiership. You will never win a flag in the modern era just scrapping.

No, but I am not taking this thread to be literally defined by it's heading. I think the OP's gist was about the up and coming midfields. Best midfield in 5 years would have been a more appropriate heading.

Pffft, tell that to Sydney.

How is any of that a deflection from the intention of this thread?

This thread isn't about frickin memberships it's about the perceived abilities of up and coming lists. The fact that our even younger list beat your young list in a recent match is highly relevant to the topic at hand.

No. You need some more Ablett/Bartel type players as a start.

Players like that are always going to be a boon for any side. I base my judgment on where our list is currently and what it would need to compliment its current strengths.

I think we have the inside/grunt factor well and truly accounted for going forward, so a couple more quick outside skilled ball users would certainly compliment what we already have.

No one knows what will happen in five years. There will be all sorts of things, new players drafted, good players leaving and signing with other clubs, injuries.

Agree.

Three years isn't that much of a better indicator either. What if any of the clubs in contention are lucky enough to snag a couple of Joel Sellwoods?

We can only discuss lists relevant to their current ability.
