black does sound like a good prospect, but i think that he is too small to be an out and out ruckman, even though posts suggest he has done so, he is however a good height for a KPF

He definately isn't being developed as a ruckman at North.

His draft camp results were "solid", but hardly elite. To put some perspective on it Jack Fitzpatrick beat him both the 20m sprint and repeat sprints (both important for a KPF) and whilst he has a good vertical leap, it hardly makes up for the fact he's giving up almost 10cm to the Fiz.

Black didn't make the WA state side for the champs but he is a good prospect that developed late. I'm glad he seems to be playing well in the VFL, but he certainly doesn't seem the type to drag fans through the turnstiles.

Haha you're hilarious.

He didn't make the WA side, because he was 6 months too old.

He was six months too old because he gave up a college basketball scholarship with the papers in front of him, and proceeded to work from grass roots football, to senior WAFL football in the space of about 6 months.

I've seen alot of Fitzpatrick, he has his days, but his form since u/16's was dissapointing.

He has a below average set of hands for a guy his height, isn't naturally aggressive, and Aaron Black would out kick him on his left 9/10, in saying that Black is one of the better kicks of football you will see of a guy 6"4 or over.

lol he hasn't even played a game of vfl nor an afl game and he has one of the best kicks for a 6'4 player in the league.

You north supporters are a weird bunch

Don't get me wrong, Melbourne's midfield will be very good... you would know that I even mentioned the Dees as a big chance of being the best in 3 years.

Cheers HF - I didn't see that myself, but belated kudos to you for that :thumbsu:

Geelong, if Ablett stays, could still have the best midfield.

Ablett, Kelly and Bartel will be 29; Selwood 24; Chapman, Enright and Corey 31 [pushing it with Chappy's hamstrings]. They have a few good youngsters coming through in Duncan and Hogan, and I think Varcoe will be an excellent midfielder in a few years. So if Ablett stays, I vote Geelong.

Our midfield will be at it's peak. Pendlebury, Beams, Sidebottom, Wellingham, Thomas all in their prime. Swan will be 29, Didak 30. I also have very high hopes for Josh Thomas, but he hasn't played a game so I won't include him.

Yep, I understand where you're coming from, and as you say, the amount of variables involved means that there are a number of possible outcomes.

I'm confident enough in the ability and potential of our mids to be backing our group in this comparative assessment though. We'll just have to see what happens in a few years' time.

C: Jetta - Kennedy - McVeigh
R: Mumford - Hannebery - Jack

Far from the best but the long term future is looking better than I thought it would compared to last year. We will need to recruit a mature gun midfielder to compete in 3 years though. That midfield looks like a 5 year project.

Melbourne or Carlton imo.
It is hard to say, but i think Trengove, Scully and the likes can develop quickly.
Carlton will be just as good, possibly much better if it comes together for them, Melbourne is probably more 5 years.

22% overall.

Which is nowhere near the 76.5% of board members that believe Melbourne supporters stack these polls.

well..... 22% when there is 16 teams is quite good....
+ look at this link, collingwood vs melbourne, red names are alias'

and another look at the voting for your poll

Considering some of the kicks going around from key forwards in this current era, it isn't really a huge accomplishment.

Must of been the ghost of Aaron Black that dobbed 3 goals on the weekend for NB.

True. I didn't realise he played VFL on the weekend. Anyway good luck to the kid. Will follow him closely

22% overall.

Incidentally Brad, would you like to try backing up some of your bogus claims about us Demons around here?

Waiting for you to try producing some actual evidence kiddo, but all we've seen from you so far on that score is zero, a tight little circular shape.

Of course, we know what the tight little circular shape is, but that's another story...

This from someone who thought Jack Anthony was one of the best forwards in the league

Brock's injured you fool.

Sin, if McLean is injured then why bother naming him in the Bullants team? Even if he doesn't play it seems odd that a club would go through it, why not just say that he's injured right from the start?
