A candidate for play of the day …
Early in the first quarter, Sidebottom in the middle of the ground kicks the ball off the ground forward. The ball ends up in dispute outside our forward 50 arc and gets cleverly knocked by Collingwood player ‘A’ to McCreery, who receives it cleanly, does a brief shimmy that confuses his man, then quickly sends a 35 meter pin point pass across the angles to Collingwood Player ‘B’ who marks in the forward pocket and kicks Collingwood’s second goal.
It was a nice piece of play. But what made it especially remarkable - and not sure how many people watching on the telly would have realised this - but Player ‘A’ and Player ‘B’ was the same player - Bobby Hill. It’s not clear in the vision how it happened (the vision was focused on McCreery’s gather). But Bobby Hill somehow teleported from outside the 50, to 20 meters from goal in the far pocket in the time it took for McCreery to receive the ball, hold onto it for the briefest of periods, and kick a 35m dart.
