From where I was it would be
5 - Hodge
4 - Buddy

Hodge is a freak and the general in the backline, the other players look to him every 5 seconds for direction and he tells them what to do and slaughters his direct opponent at the same time. Always rated Judd and maybe Ablett just 1 level above him but not after tonight. BTW that's taking nothing from Buddy.

Hodge is our best/most important player. Most opposition supporters just think its Franklin because of all the media hype, but when you follow the Hawks, you see that its Hodge.
Good on you for seeing it.

Its hard to go past all of them!

The obvious ones were Hodge, Mitchell, Buddy, Oziie, Roughie but then you had players like Young putting his head over the ball, Bateman running all night, Ladson, Guerra and Birch running it from defence, Crawford was excellent, Renouf the best ruckman on the park due to his work around the ground - Taylor may struggle to get back in, Dew, Rioli and Stockes - chasing and tackling.

Croad was quiet but it wasn't until the 4th quarter I noticed he was missing.

I actually thought Murphy was one of the best for the reason he was the only real tall in defence and when he played on Johnson he had no kicks, kept R Murphy quiet and was really good spoiler.

I must say that I was impressed with the whole team!

Team performance tonight, didn't think there were any passengers but special mention to

Luke Hodge - You are an out and out superstar

Brad Sewell - You are one tough nut and absolutely destroyed roony

Cyril - You didn't win the rising star, but you are far beyond that award

Tom Murphy - Great job on the smiling assasin and in defence in general

Lance Franklin - Outstanding, I couldn't care less how many points you kick all year if that's how you perform on the big stage

.

I thought he handled the night well, great pass to roughy in the third, when buddy was on the lead towards junior.
WE know who our rising star is, He's playing FINALS, not langushing near the bottom.

5. Luke Hodge - Absolutely Sensational words fail me to express the extent of his effectiveness...

4. Brad Sewell - Brilliant in Centre and delivery and always under the packs!!- the Sewell we know and love!!

3. Sam Mitchell - Outstanding in the middle - Captains Game :thumbsu:

2. Lewis - Wonderful ( and a few others Rioli, Ossie, Young, Dew to name but a few - could of easily take this spot for me)

1. Buddy - Yes only one because if it wasn't for the above getting it to him...well it is bloody obvious isn't it?? Although 8-1 is superb and hitting Finals form sensationally.

INJURY REPORT::cool:
I sprained my ankle yesterday @ about 4pm and went to the game on a walking stick - only find out this morning I have torn ligaments and may have done more damage by going last night:rolleyes:........I don't give a flying fruitcake - wouldn't of missed that for the world!! - one more game fella's:D

I would pretty much have the same votes.

To be honest I was a bit worried going into this game because the Doggies have beaten our midfield quite well before.

Lewis, Sewel and Mitchell played fantastic games. Was particularly pleased with Mitchell as I thought a couple of games lately he hadn't been playing his best.

A special mention for Ossie too. I remember when he used to turn it over something shocking. Surely he must be our most improved player.

Hard to have a top 5

Buddy, Hodge were brilliant.

Lewis was excellent was the game was still hot in the first half.

Mitchell was just at contest after contest with clean hands.

Sewell was great offensively and defensively.

Osborne annoyed the opposition and chipped in with goals.

Roughead was a great prescence up forward with his efforts.

Rioli impacted in burts with little bits of brilliance.

Murphy was a rock in defence.

Everyone did their best when required, solid team effort with some individual brilliance.
