Has anybody else heard this around the traps...I know the club is on leave but I have now heard this from a few people but only one of them is an opinion I would actually listen too....

I'm not starting this rumour, just wanting to know if anyone knows anything about this??

Would be a massive call and I highly doubt it but it would certainly send a pretty big message....

Would be a massive call by the club. I must say I haven't heard anything on this topic. Guess we'll find out for sure when they come back on the 4th January.
Yeah I know...but I just have a feeling that something big might go down as I reckon Sticks might just have lost his shit last week!

I'd be ducking for cover if I was one of the bad boys on Jan 4

Being a rumour, I'm a little reluctant to take too much notice of it. However, if the club did indeed intend to do this, I'm not sure if I'd be too disappointed.

Let's think about it, Hoops isn't exactly the kind of senior player to guide the young talent we have in the right direction, he's only likely to be a bad influence. Already he's shown that and by keeping him, well we might as well have kept Fev too then. The club wants to send a message that this is not to be tolerated and as the idiot who organised the booze cruise as well as the idiot in his underpants getting kicked out of crown, keeping him would embed into the minds of the younger players that they'll just get a slap on the wrist, so they too might not be so reluctant to involve themselves in stupid behaviour in the future. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say.

As for Betts, this is only shortly after the club suspended him for his last indiscretion and already he has disrespected the club again. I don't know if I'd be happy to get rid of him, maybe suspend him for a while and make him train with the bullants and earn his way back.

Not really buying into this rumour; using this thread for info.

I believe all draft and trade periods are over and our 2010 list is complete.

What are the options/repercusions if players are sacked?
Ie: contracts, rookie lists, main list, and TPP etc.

Thank you 'O learned ones

you said it yourself Rhino "I know the club is on leave", so how can they be sacked when no ones working!

Silly thread.

They will cop an indefinate (i.e. 1 week) suspension and it will all be forgotten about by round 3

I don't think it changes anything, other than leaving yourself a couple of players down. Players would have to be paid as per their contract & payments would be included under the 2010 TPP. We would not be able to specifically elevate players from the rookie list to cover them, although we still have the option of 2 nominated rookies, given our lack of veterans. It is a decision that a club would not take lightly.

Thanks for the info, I thought as much.
Certainly not an easy decision, hoping they are not forced to take such drastic measures.

Jeez it's wet on the Goldy.

I wouldn't be unhappy with a lengthy suspension, but sacking them outright would be an over reaction IMO. Betts is too valuable a player to be sacked for something as pissweak as being locked up during a police blitz on drunkenness.

One thing I'm sure about, Betts should never have been an automatic elevation to the seniors following his penalty last year; I reckon it sent the wrong message. We need to dish out some serious penalties, but throwing away players with a future would be foolish without exploring other remedies first.

You already know I dont agree, we moved Fev on after a history of indiscretion, and he is arguably a far more valuable player than these guys but fwiw, I don't believe this rumor, and I don't believe the club will sack them. They may not play again for the Blues, but they wont be sacked IMO. They will be sent to the Bullants, perhaps never to return and they probably wont get new contracts, perhaps traded if they have any currency. It really does depend on how true the Levi story is and if true who the senior players involved were. Thats the big issue sacking offence in all of this.
