An article on cricinfo said that Pakistan’s debutant spinner is a guy who so far this season had taken 13 wickets in 5 matches, averaged 45.76 and allowed 3.58 runs per over. The other main spin option is his teammate in domestic cricket (so playing on the same pitches), that guy’s numbers this season are 43 wickets in 7 matches, average 21.95 and 2.97 runs per over. Easy choice except Pakistan picked the guy who sucks because he “had been in the team environment for a year, came close to playing without getting an opportunity…. We don’t want to break a queue and fast-track someone when someone else has been waiting their turn for a year.”

Now this is absolutely moronic team selection, your job is to put the most competitive team on the field, not give a match to a guy who has carried drinks for the past 12 months. Lo and behold, the debutant went for more runs than any other debutant in Test history. (He also took 4 wickets, two of whom were bowlers)
Fair effort to take the mantle off Jason Krezja

I'm beginning to understand how Langer wore the Aussie team down.
I've had enough of his over the top style after listening to him for only 3 days.

I assume he's mates with Stokes because you could watch any press conference he ever gave as a coach and work out he's not suited to commentary.

Was listening to that little weasel Whateley on the SEN Test coverage on the drive home from work this arvo.

He really is a flog. Couldn’t help himself from having subtle little digs at WA and the Perth crowd numbers.

This is more like the performance I've come to expect from a team whose name starts with West and wears Castore at Optus this year.

I had to read this about 12 times before I realised you didn't mean Ben

Not sure how that guy ever played a test. His first class bowling average was nearly 50!
Had basically zero bowling craft, but gave it an almighty rip. The bowler's version of a T20 slogger who couldn't build an innings - there was always a boundary ball around the corner when he was bowling. But he did bowl one of the more remarkable deliveries I've ever seen: Krejza doosra

What exactly did they expect? You schedule a test against a side that has not been good for years, in a city (or country, really) where there are very few West Indian ex-pats, and you put it just after two higher profile cricket events (T20 World Cup and ODI series against England - the latter of which was also poorly attended) and immediately before another higher profile event (BBL season). You're telling me that if this test were being held in Sydney or Brisbane that the stands would be almost full? GTFOH.
