Seriously? There was an entire chorus in the bbl thread during the year the scorchers came last

I think he struggled a bit early, and it probably wasn't a good idea for him to go straight from captain to coach without any experience (and now in charge of his former team mates) but he's grown into the role.

So who’s available for the one day final on Wednesday? Hopefully Bison and Agar? If so I would imagine the side would look something like:

Philippe
Short
Bison
Bancroft
Turner
Inglis
Agar

Other bowlers

The quicks are a bit tricky because they’ve used a lot in the one day matches, presumably to manage some of their Shield bowlers. Behrendorff is the only guarantee. Ideally it would be something like Paris, Kelly, Behrendorff, Gannon (given that Jhye is unavailable and Tye is overseas). Moody has played the last two one day matches, but he sucks and will hopefully not play. Stobo is also in excellent form and should be considered.

Plenty of options if you don't have Hardie, Cartwright or Whiteman in your top 7. That's some depth!

Surely Hardie is at 7.

Can’t believe there’s a team called UP Warriorz (uttar pradesh) in the WPL

Why the Z !?

It’s based in Lucknow but didn’t take the men’s IPL name (Lucknow Super Giants) so presumably it’s not the same owners in the WPL?

WACA should rename to WA Warriorz

WA hasn't been the Warriors (Warriorz) for a number of years now. I don't think Victoria are the Bushrangers, or Qld the Bulls either. Pretty sure SA are still the Redbacks, not sure about Tassie.

So I've briefly been researching how long the current format for the Shield final has been in place. 2018/19 was the first season the points system was in place.

Victoria featured in two of the finals prior to last season's game against WA, which makes it even more mystifying to me how they approached things in the first innings, basically handing control of the game to the WA boys by not really having a good crack at a first innings points lead. Surely they would have realised how crucial that lead is. Take that lead and you can boss the game.

Anyway, hopefully WA learnt that lesson last year and approach the final with significant importance attached to the first 100 overs of the first two innings of the match.

Wow, forgot all about him.
When WA beat SA on Feb 15, batting order was:
Phillipe
Short
Bangers
Inglis
Stoinis
Turner
Hardie
Paris
Gannon
Stobo
Dorf

MM comes in for ? And bats at 3? Stoinis was rested from the one dayer against tassie, but he’d just come off the shield game.

Bowlers have all had extra day of rest with shield finishing early, so best (available) bowling line up:

Paris, dorf, stobo?
Agar at 8.
5th bowler between MM, Stoinis, Hardie (if playing).

Tough selections this week.

Tye is flying back from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to play in the game.

Phillipe
Short
MR Marsh
Bancroft
Turner*
Inglis+
Hardie/Stoinis
Agar
Paris
Tye
Behrendorff

12th Kelly

The seamers have been on a rotation policy for much of the one-day season except for Behrendorff who no longer plays red ball cricket along with Tye who also doesn't play red ball cricket and went to play in the PSL. It's a tough side to pick, it's possible they'll include both Hardie and Stoinis which means one of the batters would drop out, likely Bancroft.

We don't need Tye. Is he a definite inclusion? I'd rather keep the guys who've been playing for WA and are in form as most of them are.
Yeah Tye has a spot in the BBL but less certain that he’s a 50 over bowler. Think we have better options

That’s quite the team. Every player with international ODI or T20 experience except Bancroft/Hardie.

Tye has 11 wickets from five games at an average of 18.81. No question he plays.

Yes, he's flying back specifically for this game.
