NAh **** India. They absolutely doctored pitches to spin like buggery for the first 3 tests then once we worked them out and beat them in the 3rd test, knowing producing another turner would give us a good chance at levelling the series, they produce a road (but all our pitches spin- unless it doesnt suit us) to basically ensure a non-result.

Make the campaigners bowl their 90 overs and slap them around.

A drawn test put them into the World Test Championship so I think they doctored a road to guarantee them that.

Lyon probably Australian MOTS

Overall… without stats in front of me - Jadeja or Ashwin. Ashwin probably
Bit of a toss up but I'd lean towards Jadeja due to his batting.
Khawaja should be considered, as he was the only batsman who was consistently good on very difficult pitches for batting except of course for the first test. But he is of Pakistani decent so he could score 1000 runs in the series and not get the nod.

It's been said a few times in the thread that India needed a draw to lock up WTC Final and that is explicitly false.

A 4th Test draw and SL 2-0 NZL would have meant India were out.

They needed a draw to avoid the chance the series would be tied - not winning a home series is what they didn't want. 2-1 much better than 2-2.

Might be unpopular but I feel like Nz sorta going through a mini slump. People like Bazball but IMO them 12 months ago would have whitewashed the poms and this game wouldn’t have gone to the wire

NZ don’t have the depth to play bazball. Williamson aside, they’re not consistent enough to take that risk.

They're in a bit of a transition as some of their stars age out and their young guns get exposure, but they're still winning.

NZ is basically English conditions anyway so the Poms wouldn't have been as overwhelmed as some other teams have been.

Not helped by constantly playing Nicholls in the middle order who is a massive spud. Bracewell not much chop either. They’d have alternatives to both. Also Jamieson and Boult were injured. Jamieson makes a big difference.

Should bring back the GOAT Ronchi

Boult injured or just not picked?

Inglis and MMarsh are gone to India, Paris is missing due a back injury (probably just being managed), Kelly is rested as well.

Who would we prefer to play in the final?

If we lose this game, we may have to play the Vics again in the final. Not sure if that's a great way to go into that game. So I guess that means I'm hoping we play Qld.
I think the Vics are stronger on paper.

Will the test players like Ussie, who aren't in the ODI's be available?
