They should have just called yesterday off and waited for the rain to clear. getting out there to lose 6 for 30 odd runs was putrid.
Then some really dumb batting and bowling from Australia.
Top order has done jack.

Truth of the matter, we did not deserve to win that game.

When you don't grasp you opportunities when they come your way and you have lapses in concentration and application you run the risk of being beaten.

Thats what happened this test match, hope the kick in the arse gets them more fully focused for the next Test.

Well played to the Poms, they had more better moments than us ..... end of story.

People expect us to win every session.
It's hard to beat the Poms away.

If they played Foakes instead of Bairstow they might be 2-1 up.

Hazelwood or Neser?
Does Green come straight back in?
Hazelwood is the 3rd ranked T20i bowler in the world and against this side that could actually be useful if they plan better.

SEN commentators made some decent points on Warner in that his performance at Lords was much better than the scoreboard suggests, and when Khawaja is playing so well changing his opening partner is a risk.

Agreed, it's nice that we've won the first two tests however Bairstow's an average keeper who's leg injury made him below average. If Foakes who's a superior keeper wouldn't give up easy byes, wouldn't miss any chances and turning half chance into wickets then England would've won the first test imo and be 2-1 up.

Bairstow's godly summer was when he was a specialist batsmen with no keeping to hold back on. Foakes was a crucial part of this Bazball team since he's can stabilize an innings thus giving removing the fear of failure to the middle order and as mentioned wouldn't give up easy byes and take every chances behind the stumps. They also made an error in selecting Moeen Ali who hasn't played red ball cricket in years and is not fully fit. Another crucial thing that they needed was a spinner who can bowl for very long spells to give the quicks a rest since England don't bat as long enough to give their fast bowlers a rest. Moeen as a result did not have the control to keep one end dry and Australia attacked him. Liam Dawson should've played instead since he's bowling well for Hampshire and averages in the mid 30s with 12 FC hundreds, he would've been perfect as that workhorse bowler England really needed especially with Jack Leach injured. But hey, I'm still happy we won regardless.

Warner now sadly is cooked and is getting exposed around the wicket by Stuart Broad.

We can bring in Green if the wicket is a green top and rain is forecasted. In hindsight, Murphy shouldn't have been selected considering the rain and the clouds, should've retained Hazlewood.

We can bounce back and win the last two test to retain the Ashes in England. We could bring Bancroft to replace Warner but he may be one of those players who's good in FC cricket but struggles in test. Marcus Harris 🤮 please no.

Edit: Absolute brain dead cricket from Labuschagne and Smith in the second innings. If they made a 50 at least then there's a good chance they chase 300-350 and we're a good chance to win.

Warner may as well go T20 style if he's going to get out anyway. I feel like Green would be a good opener, but then you have Usman and Green neither rotating the strike potentially which is not a good pairing.

Did Boland bowl bad or was he without luck? Either way Hazelwood will come in again for the next test, just curious.

Surely Marnus buckles down next test at least once for a score of 70+, Smith's 100th was one to forget with the bat.

The bowling attack looks crap with all this short stuff. Short stuff is great to watch, but it needs to be done situationally, not just as some weird hail mary ploy with few runs to defend.

No issues with Murphy, not his fault he wasn't tried at all. If they don't want to use a spinner than bring Green in for him and utilise Head/Marnus/Smith to keep the over rate ticking when needed.

Well summed up.

Day 2 was where we lost it. Awful bowling to their tail took at least 50 runs off our first innings lead, and then the Marnus and Smith failures cost us another 50-100.

We're still 2-1 though and doing a lot of things right. Fix up our bowling plans when we're into their tail and win a bloody toss for once and we can finish this series in the next Test.
