Spitballing again but...

Hartung & our second could possibly get us into the first Rd range required. From there it's possible to trade up again or part with a player & that pick (12-15) to secure Hopper.

I apologies for delving to far down the path of BS trade talk.

As Cryptor suggested, with Wrighty anything is possible.

If Hanrahan & Morrison are handy picks, I am fine with entering the draft in the 70s for a couple of kids & upgrade rookies to fill the list if it means we get another gun in Hopper.

It was only a couple of months ago
that the same points were being raised & defended to get O'mera & Mitchell.... that turned out ok!
I don't see any difference in getting Hopper
We won't be trading a runner like Hartung.

Maybe not. It's better than putting up Breust or Sicily's name for a déjà vu moment.

Where on our list do you see currency via trade?
I'm not sensitive on possible players so you can be brutal if you want.

It's way way WAY too early in the year to be declaring that this isn't hypothetical trade thread, surely.

Except no.

Hopper is a NSW kid. The Giants ain't going to let him go.

Much more chance of landing Shiel, and even he is a long shot unless we're going to trade out a high quality player to do so.
I'd be right behind you if it weren't for what happened this last off season. Trading away Mitchell and Lewis for nix and then still managing to get Tom Mitchell from the Swans and Jaegar O'Meara from a hostile Gold Coast without requiring us to lose any other best 22 player who wasn't already going.

The man is a lateral thinker and perhaps just a little bit crazy, but he gets results even when some of his trades in isolation are too crazy even for our hypothetical trades threads. Hawks probably won't go for Hopper given there are plenty of options just as good who are easier gets. But if it's possible GW would be the one to get it done.

No worries.
Yes a little early!
Yes.. very Abasi answer. Can we pick this up in July?
Again, apologies for going down the bs trade talk

Not yet, he said he wasn't interested in moving and expected the contract to be sorted but he hasn't signed yet

He is a pretty straight down the line kid, if he said that I would expect him to stay at GWS. Pity, I rank him as high as any young mid in the comp. Would be a deadly midfield with him Mitchell and O'meara.

Remember when Frawley's needs we're monumental too and no one was going to pay what he wanted.

Ahh, managers and clubs, playing the game.
remember when St Kilda gave up the pick they were never going to part with for the bloke who videoed himself snorting white powder?

gotta love trade and free agency posturing

Gotta love posters on the main board so offended by the thought that Hawthorn will add another player this year via trade/FA.

Anyone catch Dusty Martin in the Richmond game? Lookin good. Dont care what anyone says about, I would love him at Hawthorn.
For someome who apparently has off field discipline issues, he actually plays with great discipline. Cant remember him getting reported or spitting the dummy.

How much would he cost roughly?

Gotta be $650k

Conventional media will suggest $850k; but then Frawley's $800k somehow became $500k(ish).

In our system he's not worth more than $650k(ish - maybe higher with salary cap increase).

I agree I'd love him in hawks colours! And Daniel Rioli... although I'll be misheard again coz he ain't "big fish" material... but anyone who has watched him knows he is gonna be a star!

Agree. And I will go against the trend here and say we shouldn't be trading all our first round future picks. In my opinion we have the basis for an excellent midfield on our list, and there seems to be enormous talent potential coming through with Lovell and Stewart. Unless someone like Trengrove comes up, at the right price, we should be keeping our picks for possible f/s and academy selections, especially if there is some real prospects there.

Much cheaper than Fyfe and more durable, does any stats man know how many games Dusty has missed since entering the league? Doesn't seem to get injured. Imagine Martin, Jaeger and Mitchell in the guts!

Would love to see Daniel running around with Cyril. Do we know when his contract expires?

Thai, we have been trading our picks for established players successfully for years now. Why fix it when it ain't broke?

I agree with Thai on this, we have a good base of midfielders. Maybe with brand having question marks on his ability we would do it for a key back, i think we have time now to go to the draft for the next few years and take best available. Just my thoughts, could be wrong though.
