Davies plays well…
Gets shit on. Poor form

Ahh, it’s valid discussion man. I don’t see anyone shitting on him but his good stuff tends to go unnoticed. Perhaps it is his penance for being a no-fuss pro.

I really rate the guy though. I can’t recall walking away thinking “we lost that because Davies was shit” as we all have with the likes of Aurier, Sanchez, etc.

I hate seeing guys talked down after we/they have played well. Literally the only non positive comments this morning is downplaying Ben and that’s unfair imo. Solid pro who has never whinged about being a bench/cup player. Gets his time in the sun and is playing very well so deserves to be praised for that.

Saw it Saturday night. Meritorious comeback win. A few wanted to ruin it by waffling on about how it doesn’t matter cos we’re shit. Won’t win the flag etc. who cares cos our kids are crap and our old blokes are crap blah blah. Just enjoy the win ffs.

Ben Davies has been a rock at the back under Conte. He doesn’t need to be replaced imo. Dier, Romero and Davies is solid. Add one quality left footed CB to round out the group and have Dav as 5th choice and all good.

I have a couple of times but not in a complete shit truck way like those guys. Just by not being quick at enough at LB to deal with elite RWs which isn't his fault. He doesn't have the pace to play there and was trying his best.

Thankfully at LCB he isnt exposed in that same way. But at the same time with 3 CBs we need them to be as a collective much better with the aerial ball and at set pieces. My guess is he's the smaller of the 3 so is the most at need to be upgraded. Some may argue it's Dier and I can get that. But plain and simple the back 3 with 1 better CB "should" improve our dismal defensive set piece record. Over 1/4 of our goals conceded under Conte are from set pieces. It's not good enough and the CBs and GK have to own that

For context our 10 set piece goals against at 27% of goals conceded compared to the elite that Conte/Kane expect to be

City 1 / 6%
Pool 4 / 20%
Chelsea (not that elite) 4 / 17%

We reduce our 10 to 4 and we are 3rd right now and probably already out of sight of arsenal

buy back on Reggy i'd take and use it to fund another CB.
Could feasibly go a back 5 of Doherty/Royal + Romero + Dier + newbie + Sess/davies
Rodon probably needs a team where he plays but isn't us. He's good for Wales but clearly not viewed as viable in our system

I'd say the same for Sanchez now. clearly not trusted.
Bergy & Lucas - worth something to others, or do they sit on our bench?

Still need a midfielder (too shallow)...ideally a creative one who can step in with the passing when Kane is out...

I always assumed Sanchez was younger and deserved time to mature considering his natural abilities, I just found out he's 26, the window to mature is probably closed.

Lucas seems like the perfect bench player, his run set up Bergy's goal, definitely worth persisting with.

Bergy at 25 is on the cusp of show us what you have consistently, he's too skillful to move on from yet in my opinion, he could turn heads at the world cup.

My intention certainly wasn't to have a go at Davies, he's fine, as pointed out we just can't afford too many of his type, a decent servant.

As mentioned Romero if he can stay fit will be one of the best defenders in the premier league in no time.

April 20-30 is crucial.

We have day off, Brentford away then Leicester at home.

Gunners have Chelsea away, United home and West Ham away.

Need 6/6 there to put pressure on them dropping points to those around us.

Would be great to **** off the PL if the catch up game becomes a dead rubber and we are clear of them

ideally Lyon & Villareal are impressed by the performances this week of our loanee lads.
would love to turn both into cash for Bastoni & a mid.

Adios.

Knock Spam out as a parting gift please.

Boy are villa a dirty bunch of campaigners. Got us rattled because the ref allowed it. Need to get a grip somehow. If only we had someone to bring on for Hojberg

What does McGinn need to do to get carded ffs.

Conte era:

Performances since we sacked Nuno.

City - 53 points; 20 games; GD +38
Liverpool - 50 points; 20 games; GD +36
Spurs - 42 points; 21 games; GD +26
Chelsea - 37 points; 20 games; GD +18
Arsenal - 37 points; 20 games; GD +10
United - 34 points; 21 games; GD +3
Wolves - 33 points; 22 games; GD +4
West Ham - 31 points; 21 games; GD +2

All this with the squad Jose and Nuno couldn't get humming + Kulusevski and Bentancur.
We are clearly better than those below us (Chelsea have a far better squad) and as we can see still have a lot of improvement needed to catch the two leading the league.

Back this man, Levy. Back him and we'll succeed.
