Very. Not sure Forster even made a save up until that goal from nothing.frustrating
I'll preface this by stating that I am Ange's biggest fan. Like many of us, I have been following his career since his time in Brisbane. It was a dream come true for me to see one of my heroes appointed as the manager of my premier league team and it hurts so much to see how badly it's going atm.Why do you see no reason for optimism? It's not like we're getting thrashed week after week with a full strength team. We've got some good youngsters coming through, some key players to return and hopefully a good transfer window coming up. Things can turn quickly.
Spurs literally sat deep today defended and countered and still gave up a late goal, he has changed on occasion people just ignore itI'll preface this by stating that I am Ange's biggest fan. This will seem like a massive rant so I apologise in advance, but since you asked why I see no reason for optimism:
- The main thing that concerns me is that the same mistakes keep happening.
- We lose to similar teams in similar ways.
- Increasingly it seems easier for the opposition to set up and get results against us.
- Ange seems more and more unwilling to adapt to the situations in front of him.
- From my perspective, I don’t think the players believe in what he’s preaching or at least they don’t play like they do.
- The same injuries keep happening to the same players.
- We’re in 11th in the league.
- Ange this season has the worst points per game of any Spurs manager in the last 25 years.
- We're barely hanging on in Europe and were fortunate to go through in the Carabao.
- Since the first ten games of last season, we’ve been an extremely unbalanced team.
- Our transfer activity under Ange is a massive red flag for me as well. We obviously need proper senior players within the squad but instead have opted for a youth focused strategy. Ange has either advocated for it or at the very least begrudgingly approved it. He also chose to sign Timo Werner TWICE.
- There is not one single player in our squad that I believe has improved within Ange's system. Maybe Brennan, but he does very little outside of scoring goals. Maybe Richarlison but he's never on the park.
- Conversely, there are many members of our squad who have gotten worse under him: Vicario, Dragusin, Son (age probably a bigger factor here), Bissouma, Maddison, Udogie, Werner, Romero, Solanke, Porro, Sarr, and Bentancur.
It's very rare that a Director of Football gets appointed after the First Team Coach. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if there is tension between Ange and Lange. But on the other hand you'd assume that Munn would be backing Ange. This is now our worst points per game since the mid 90s
Generational talent is a term that gets thrown around a lot these days. This is a generational worst Spurs side, playing in 60k seat stadium/go-kart track/NFL money churning machine, 9th richest club in world football
I think my frustration with Ange is more the murkiness and untrustworthy nature of ENIC and Levy. Part of me wants to believe this is a 4 year project. And Ange is backed and is the man for it. But if that's the case Lange needs to come out and back his man publicly and state it. End the nonsense and uncertainty. It's not conducive to good results or morale in the stands not knowing how many more bad results ange has.
That's if they actually believe in Ange and are on the same page with the size of the project. Back him and someone else have the balls to come out and say it.
But it's not the way directors of football work in England. Conte was right. In England they are cowards. They never speak. They never come out and tell the fans what the plan is. Maybe they think with full disclosure a few less seats get sold?
Or maybe they don't believe in him and they will be pulling the trigger in the next week. But this bullshit is boring. Sack him or back him and let us know you're doing it
Lange came after Ange didn't he? Might be identifying players that suit a philosophy in general. And a good DOF should always have a short-list for managers too. So Lange will stay if Ange goesI think if they sack ange, the DOF should be sacked as well, he signed off on buying young players as well meaning no matter how long they thought it would take they agreed it was a project for beyond this year. If they terminate it clearly before it's had a chance to finish then this is more than just an Ange failure
Yeah it's a bit of a shit show. It's very rare that a Director of Football gets appointed after the First Team Coach. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if there is tension between Ange and Lange. But on the other hand you'd assume that Munn would be backing Ange.
Question marks on all three, but most of all Levy who has overseen the whole thing.
Since the Injury crisis spurs have played
1st
2nd
4th
6th
7th
8th
9th
17th
Could knock me down with a feather that it's been tough
Way to miss the point lolWe've played 19/19 sides in the competition and are 12th guys
Let's not say we've had a worse run than anyone else, we've all played each other once and are bottom half
Your constantly being an apologist for Ange and it is all just the players fault is now going way over the topSpurs literally sat deep today defended and countered and still gave up a late goal, he has changed on occasion people just ignore it
Same injuries to same players isn't coaching thats medical, existed before him and will exist after.
9th or 10th in Europe, how is that barely hanging on we've already qualified for the knockouts.
Weren't lucky at all in the carabao, dominated UTD and only Forster's mistakes got them back which again he's only playing due to injury. Not Anges fault.
The youth strategy is clear, try and develop a team that can challenge at the top, the money teams spend now spurs can't buy there way to the top buying established players. He signed off on a project, you don't start a project by wasting all your money season to season.
He loaned Timo Werner not signed, loaned. Probably because he needed depth and Levy wouldn't give him his first target. Also had Moore and Odobert he was using ahead of him, both out long term. Neither his fault
How can Solanke have gotten worse this is his first season? Vicario you didn't even know before he moved to spurs and was conceding way less this year than last.
Maddison is on track for his best ever goal+assist season.
Bissoumas always been crap for spurs.
Bentancur has been better this year than last
The only reason most of these guys look worse is because ange improved them last year to begin with.
If that's what you got out of that reply then that's your problem big fellaYour constantly being an apologist for Ange and it is all just the players fault is now going way over the top
