Greg harding and michael prior are a couple of serious duds who we traded in. Early 2000s was a strange time for the club. Played less than 20 games between them and offered nothing

Studied with Greg Harding at UWA (a unit in Geography), good bloke even though we didn't talk much. Good to see him doing okay at Swan Districts.

On topic, my vote goes to Sampi. Had loads of talent but his heart (and gut) weren't really in it.

Ashley Sampi. As far as potential goes he dudded us. The amount of untouched talent in that guy is huge.

No doubt Sampi was an unfulfilled talent - he was as talented as any player we've had on our list. Ever.

Unfortunately he never quite made the adjustment to city life and the rigours of being in the AFL system. I'm sure if both he and the club had their time again they would do things differently because his career was something of an opportunity lost.

That said, this thread is about the biggest dud and Sampi was anything but a dud

Would still bang the other T. Swift first

Firstly to be selected on an AFL list is a fantastic achievement - I think respect should be shown to getting that far. However sometimes expectations just don't turn into reality. A few that I was excited about only to be disappointed include: Gasper great talent but it never came to much. Spinks (thankfully Geelong took him off us). Then you consider our hunt for the small forward Ryan Neates and Lewis Broome who never were able to deliver the expectations placed upon them. But we should never forget our drafting of Tim Watson - smart try but it unfortunately he never played a game for us.

I am not sure getting on an AFL list is the achievement you think it is, it should be but with the current system of picking players with potential as opposed to the best players then it losers something. There are many many players who are over 25 years old in the VFL, SANFL and WAFL that are far better players than 50% of the players that get drafted and end up on an AFL list.
Now of course those young players need to be given a chance to reach their so called potential and hence why they are put on an AFL list.
AFL listed player certainly does not mean you are an AFL footballer though, there will be another 100 drafted this year that won't make it and incredibly most of them also won't be good enough to have a 100 plus game career at second tier level.
It's a great story for the young bloke and his family and one even to tell his own kids about one day but being on an AFL list is not exactly being an AFL player.

Didn't Gasper and Spinks as well have shocking injuries which obviously dented their performance? Just going by memory?
