Bill Shorten - how long?

Can't see anything that condemns Bill at this point-all just deals etc to make things better for his members. Unless, in the unlikely event, he has down something illegal, or has diddled his comrades, nothing to see here. The public doesn't seem to be fussed.
Even if stuff emerges, who cares. Plibersek will be great.

I actually think Anthony Albanese would be a really good opposition leader and then one day PM. The problem is if Shorten has done something unlawful I see it being very ugly for the Labor Party. If Shorten just stood down it would be okay but given recent history I imagine him trying to fight tooth and nail to keep his job at the expense of everything else.

Of course all this is speculation at this point. Shorten may have done nothing wrong.

Wow from the corrupt to the totally bonkers
Uhuh -you might not like her but she is light years ahead of the current mob who are quite lacking competence and devoid of ethics or humanity. Behave mostly in a shameful manner really. And are particularly unappealing (as the polls show).
So yes-I am excited about the thought of Plibersek. Get excited rooboy, the future is rosy.;)

Yep-all just air at the mo. I agree that Shorten may have dug in a year ago, but am hopeful that, if it comes to that, he will go quietly. Think he has matured a bit.

About the only thing that would excite me these days would a headline saying
North sign Dangerfield

Shorten has requested that he give his evidence to the Royal Commission in July rather than August. As possible future PM this is not good enough. He needs to make some public statements ASAP.

Bill has lawyered up.

“Without waiving Mr Shorten’s legal professional privilege, Mr Shorten has been advised by me not to answer questions or comment on the issues that may be the subject of his appearance before the Commission,” solicitor Leon Zwier, of Arnold Bloch Leibler, writes.

Sensible, hardly alarming is it Lester?

I'm not really sure overseeing $300k deals with construction firms that cuts your members working conditions, you know the ones the AWU are supposed to look after, can really fall underneath the statement of "making things better".

I always assumed you were pro union, not pro corrupt union powerbroker.

Yep of course just didn't think it was clear yet exactly what he has done with the money and how that impacted on his workers' conditions. If he has lined is pockets and eroded conditions, then yep, I will be dirty on Bill.

Anybody should and would do this. Don't be a tit.

Really like Dreyfus-do you think he could lead?

KIERAN GILBERT: In terms of the merits of this argument where do you stand in terms of seeking a conviction before citizenship is stripped? Do you believe that there needs to be conviction through a court of law whether it be a foreign fighter overseas or in Australia before a Minister should have that discretion?…
MARK DREYFUS: But a conviction which is what the law presently says before it is looked at by a Minister....

KIERAN GILBERT: Does that apply to both those convicted of supporting terrorism offshore as well as those here?
MARK DREYFUS: It should not make any difference at all. We are talking about the potential to strip Australians of their citizenship.

KIERAN GILBERT: So, someone who is fighting in Al-Raqqah in Syria?
MARK DREYFUS: Well, you get them back here. Right?

Spectacular own goal by Dreyfus. The idea is not to let these fighters back into the country.

If you want corrupt, deceptive, disingenuous look no further than the reactionaries.

As far as Tanya goes the fear among the ratbag right on this board is almost tangible. She'd wipe the floor with Julie Bishop. Can't wait for Bishop to get the reins so Labor can revisit the stuff-up she was as opposition Treasury spokesperson. Also revisit her time in WA politics and why she was forced out after being the anointed one to take over from Court.
