Agree. I think he hit the baseline of his role for 3 quarters. He was still a liability offensively, but we were able to wear that as long as Andrews didn't dominate him.

Was especially poor whenever he had to compete for any ball that wasn't a long ball to the hot spot. Unfortunately, in the last he kept being targeted when we went inside 50 and didn't win any or halve many.

Did his job. Would have been nice if he’d taken a mark and kicked a goal. But the talk all week was how do we stop Harris Andrew’s. Well we did. Via Billy Frampton essentially playing as a defender on an interceptor. It did the trick. We won the flag.

Once Murphy went down I felt it was incredibly important that we had selected Billy in the side. Obviously we never had to swing the move, but I felt a lot more comfortable knowing that we had Billy available to swing back for Howey if Hipwood started to get on top.

To be fair the only reason Billy even played was because the 2 KPFs in front of him were both injured. If you told us Andrews would be largely uninvolved
For 80% of the match before the game I’m sure 99% would take it.
Have a look at the Carlton game to see what Andrew’s can do when on the loose. Carlton would have been 7 to 8 up in the first if not for him.

Would of been nice if he took a few of those grabs that slipped through his fingers but he did well to play his role and not spew on the MCG. To get the call up like that would have been stressful mentally, did well to get through it and not let it get to him.

Followed the coach’s instructions to the letter.
Billy we don’t need you to mark it, just make it hard for him to do so or for him to get a decent fist on it.

Billy Frampton to me is our most disappointing recruit of the fantastic 5 last year (him, Markov, Mitchell, Hill, McStay) and I say this fully valuing him as without him maybe we dont win the flag given his role he played during season in the ruck and keeping Andrews to 7 touches in 3 quarters.

I think he is good because whatever role he was given he gave what the team needed.

Why he is disappointing is he is actually capable of being an elite defender based on his 2022 form for Crows. I think we got the pre 2022 Frampton and that is still a bargain for pick 56 plus in this years draft given he played a big part in delivering us a flag.

2024 I think he is a player who can make us better if we can get him playing as a key defender like he did last year and free up Moore to be more offensive. Maybe it was just a patch of form last year that he will unlikely repeat (which happens with players) or hopefully we can find a way to unlock it. If we do he is best 22 and we are a better team. If not he is trusted depth.

The Essendon bloke nailed it if not for Andrews last week we would have been playing Carlton saturday. Billy nullified him for 3 qtrs and contributed massively to our victory people forget both he and Ginni have had very little football recently.

I think whether or not he plays back next yr depends on what with Murph and Howe and if Charlie comes good with foot problems but we need a big presence down back.

He was probably better than Hipwood, let’s be honest.
I just don't get how Hipwood was completely invisible after Murphy went off.

Offensively, they may have had a similar output, but Billy nullified the oppositions best defender for 3 qtrs. I don't know what the hell Hipwood was busy doing the whole time.

Anyway, the only really really good trade weve done for ages is the Beams for picks and Crispy
That was the trade that had the biggest impact on our recent flag
Pick 62, everybody...

How did Billy almost cost us a flag? The absence of McStay might've, but having Billy to come into the side still positions him as the best of the options we had available.

provided nothing, dropped 2 sitters within 30m of goal, if we hadn’t of held on, you would be seeing him a lot different. It was more bad coaching by Brisbane of Harris Andrews than what anything Frampton done.
We dodged a bullet with that

Let’s be real, that almost cost us a flag
If you mean by Billy’s performance in the GF, I beg to differ.
Harris Andrews had no impact on the game for the first 3 quarters. Conversely against Carlton the week before, he murdered them.
Billy wasn’t there for stats or goals. He was there as spoiler. He did his job and it not go unnoticed by Fly.
