Something to their right has caught their attention.

The small birds have to take their turn big ones get first dibs
around here its blue faced honey eater or friar birds
Some arent as scared and some are polite and play well with other species

in the last few weeks we have had an oriole

and a fig birds (female fig has black eye ) but looks like an oriole

very polite birds and the little ones drank along side them

Yep, it's fascinating to watch.

The little ravens always go first in my yard, then it goes right down to the wrens last.

The pecking order, literally.

Seed hangers or sprinkled seeds?

I prefer sprinkling them or leaving them in bowls, near the birdbath as well.

We've got a pair of these in the backyard. They've lived here for 4-5 years. White Plumed Honeyeaters.

Forever telling the blackbirds to **** off!!!
 
When the heatwave hit last summer, the water bowls got smashed for a couple of days there, real hard. Got a visit from one of these, a New Holland Honeyeater. We had 16 different species of bird visit in one afternoon. All enjoyed a drink.
