I think Carracella would be ok. He knoes where the goals are and would be a ready made player. He would also keep Andrew Williams off the MCG and stuck with the Willi seconds.

as long as someone else wins him the ball, and he isn't under pressure he should do okay. you would want to be careful on how much you are paying him though.

Would be more benefit than Betherus.

We have enough ball getters. We do lack goal kicking finishes.

Would keep out Williams & Lokan :)

I can't believe some of you blokes.

We have a chance of picking up a two-time premiership player who has played 150 games and we could easily slot him in to the forward line to play as a small forward under our abundance of talls (Taz, Rocca, Fraser, CC etc) for NOTHING. We are not losing a player or a draft pick, only cap space who would be used on some other hack anyway so why the hell not?

It's the pre season draft and we have pick 4. Would you prefer a Blake Caracella or some other hack who has hardly played a game and shown nothing for a rabble like Richmond? Because if it's not Caracella, that's the type of player we are destined to select. I know what I would prefer...

We have lacked a classy small forward ever since Davo flew the coop in '02. As I said, we have a truckload of talls in our forward line and a small forward like Caracella would compliment that structure. Sure he is inconsistent, so he would fit in nicely. At least we know his best can be very, very useful. And besides, he is better than most of the rabble we have on our list at the moment anyway.

What are the other choices for a small forward? Leon? Pfft. Lokan? Pfft. Williams? PPFFFTTTT!!!!!
Caracella > Davis/Lokan/Williams - by a long way.

And as I said, what the hell do we have to lose? It's the pre season draft! It's not trade week. This would be a nice little added bonus - we're not giving up a damn thing.

Yes bloody please. Where do I sign?

I'd prefer Didak, Davis, King, Burns, Buckley, Tarks, Johnson, Lonie, C Morrison, and hopefully B and H Shaw and this years pick 10 as our small forward options. Being a two time premier is irrelevant, Caracella is a dud.

But Caracella is a pussy. he is also getting on a bit. i mean 1 or 2 years left before he starts to really drop off(more than likely). I cant see Collingwood winning a flag between now and then, and Caracella plays well in teams that are inline to win a grand final. Collingwood are not in that place anymore. Caracella would have been great for you 2002,2003 - but in a midtable team he looks soft. he also demands some decent $$. more than he is worth im sure. ask Brisbane ppl if they have shed any tears over losing the "Carrot-Seller". nope. nope. nope.

Caracella had several moments where he looked very ordinary, even in a lions team. I hear those people saying he is a better option than Williams, lokan and davis. but he costs two of them. ditch williams and lokan, keep davis, and persist. little magic mean take time

If he's still there, there is absolutlely not doubt that they would take him. It's a free hit. It's the first time in a long time that we have had any sort of chance if taking anyone good in the PSD. Personally, I'd prefer to take that Corrie from Brisbane. He's a great little goal sneak, and how about that mark he took against Essendon at the Telstra Dome running with the flight of the ball?

With our last pick of the ND I reckon we should take either Hulme or Rupe if they're still there. There is nothing to lose.

Well said.....

He will demand $280,000 - 320,000 a year sorry boys not worth it, in the 8 years he has played senior football has he ever put his head over it or showed some balls hardly and before you all jump down my throat and say "but every player cant be hard at it" but that's what we need some more steal, not a half forward receiver who flaps his arms around all day looking for a quick goal. thanks but no thanks.

Although I obviously haven't seen him first hand, Caracella's softness is bloody overrated - in that he isn't as soft as everyone keeps saying.

Maybe it's just that mark he took a few years back where he ran head-on into oncoming traffic....but I dont think he's any softer than O'Bree or Leon.

That so called mark was taken 7 years ago! we can't go on that.

Firstly, if we could squeeze two years out of Caracella, then great!

Lokan and Williams are self explanitory, but Caracella's better than Leon Davis. Period. Probably better now than Leon ever will be.

But "Little men take time". Agreed. Just look at Farmer! Still waiting!!

Caracella would fill a need. That need being a skilled finisher. If he wants to go into the PSD, we should take him if available.

At the end of the two years, if he's pushing for money unbecoming of his current and likely future worth, then tell him to ******** off!

What are the other options; Houlihan? Pick 120 in the National draft??

About the only thing our football department's gotten right over recent years is managing the cap effectively. Use it FFS!!

Exaclty right - sign him up now on a 2 year deal - if he's on $300k, big deal as we can easilly afford it.

If his form drops off but his price doesnt heading into 2007 - ******** him off.

We have money so we should use it to get someone classy to the club. If we need to spend big on a young Corrie than need be it. Corrie is good and we should try as hard as we can to get him to the club, same for Caracella.

I doubt Corrie will leave the Lions.
Brisbane are not stupid, perhaps the reason they are prepared to let Carracella go is so that they can keep and afford Corrie.

If Carracella is the best available at pick 4 in the PSD it is a simple equation - we take him.
Soft, hard, medium rare it don't matter, take the best available
