We need to look after our older players as not to wear them out, Murphy included, get him fixed up and play him out of the forward pocket. Would be good to see him play until he was 34 and sneak into a flag like Shane Crawford. Don't want to see him cooked at the age of 30 like Judd. Bigger picture here, opens the door for someone else to step up.
Logical, but a really hard sell.
Might need surgery.............and we come up with this.

From back in 2012 :
Clearly he has had niggling issues with that shoulder ever since the collision with Dangerfield and will more than likely suffer some more from it in later life (eg. major arthritis).

Bad news for Murphy and the club, but better it be now than closer to - or during - the season.

It's not that I don't care for Murphy but I'd be more disappointed should it be Byrne or Sheehan who can't get onto the park this year.
I know every club have their share of Giles's and O'Keeffe's but I just want to see these guys build, without care for injury.

The good news is both Plowman and Murph's operations are minor and they'll be back into full training before round 1 starts.
Is Plowman & Murphy the only injuries we have ATM? Sorry if I should know the answer already

It begins...
Might actually be a good thing for Murphy's ongoing leadership development.
You can't lead by example if you're not on the track (which seems his preferred leadership method) so hopefully Murph throws himself into supporting the boys in other ways and really works on his presence as a vocal leader around the group.
