Might as well say season for Murph as well.
Why? Any player that can make it back 100% should get the opportunity to play.

It should be obvious at this point that they're not rushing him, so why tell him to pack it in. What kind of example does that set?

One where we protect our most vital asset.

There is absolutely nothing to be gained by bringing Murphy in for the remaining games.

As long as he's still being a presence around the club, he's still doing his job.
They're trying to instill a mindset of perseverance. If he's 95+% fit, he plays IMO.

And they can continue to do that without risking the skipper in meaningless games.

I'm just guessing but I'd suggest he'd be close to 95% fit now.

I'm sure the ankle is great from the PoV of the ligament, but he's got to get the circulation and surrounding muscular strength back up a bit, then he may return via the VFL to blow out the cobwebs.

Expect a huge performance if he does, because I don't think he's ever played VFL.

Haven't seen this many season ending injuries since about round 15 last year.

then gets injured and misses pre season. give someone else a go and save him for 2017. we need a fit and healthy murphy

Like I said, I see the argument for wrapping him in cotton wool, but I also see that it "might" send the wrong message to the rest of the playing group, many of whom are possibly carrying their own niggles.

And it's all on the proviso that he is fit.

We are also discounting the possibility that he may be insisting he should play. If he is then I take that as an excellent leadership trait and I doubt Bolts would discourage that.

If he's fit, he's fit though. Otherwise we might as well send every half decent player we have on holidays.

I'd much prefer to have him sit out the next couple of games, get him through a full preseason and hopefully he'll be right for round 1. He got injured late last year and his preseason suffered because of it.

Hopefully Cripps gets out onto the ground on Sunday. Melbourne will tear us a new one if he doesn't play.

Last time he did play against Melbourne, Patty tore THEM a new one.
