Okay the double speak of Brad Lloyd at three quarter time has me absolutely spitting chips.

Curnow has carried an injury since late last year. I believe it was on our 22nd game but could have been in the GWS game.

Charlie refuses to make excuses for it and won't accept it for why he was poor in the finals last year.

I believe that it has been the ankle all along.

It's why he has gone from a player who consistently made second and third efforts and to a player who makes one effort and is incapable of making consecutive efforts. It's also why he leads with so many one sided efforts and has protected the one side.

Seriously this football club is ****ed.
Its been obvious all year.

Shocking if it's that bad.

That's absolute rubbish. So easy to make these simplistic excuses. Charlie injured his ankle last week

Brad Lloyd's own comments st 3/4 time prove this is not true.

He clearly injured his ankle in the final QTR of the first north game, has been half the player since.

I am absolutely willing to believe he was already carrying something into the season, he would be one of 100s of players across the league that do, every year.

Can surgery fix this? Anyone know?

Sorry but Charlie has never consistently made 2nd & 3rd efforts…..

Taping an ankle does not prevent injury nor does it eliminate the risk of injury. It’s merely an attempt to reduce the severity of an ankle injury should it occur. If Charlie has an ongoing ankle issue then the only long-term solution is rehabilitation or surgery depending on severity.

I don’t know the extent of his injury obviously but to get back to 100% he probably needs weeks off but that won’t happen at this stage of the season.

What you’ll see in a lot of sports (AFL included) is athletes taping prophylactically (taping despite never having had a serious injury to that body part) in order to prevent the severity of injury.

Well last week I did say that taping the ankle doesn’t prevent injury and that he needs weeks off. If there’s instability there or if he’s made it significantly worse that’s a concern.

Two thoughts here:

1. The season is DONE. It is time to pack off the guys who are clearly not fit for the summer and give them a chance to be ready for next year. That is obviously the blokes hurt today, but probably also Walsh, McGovern and Acres from what we have seen.

Will we lose next week? Yep, but it's 4:40pm in Perth so who cares. At which point finals will be mathematically impossible ans we can cruise through the last round injury free.

2. I think the club owes us an answer to a pretty important question: did they go into a high intensity training block at the bye (as has been rumoured). That was the bye, followed by Geelong (who were undermanned and who we belted) then Richmond (same) but the way we blew up physically against GWS before quarter time, then again against the Bulldogs, and the mounting injuries since...

An explanation won't ease the pain but it would at least make it easier to understand. Did we just make a mistake? If so, fair enough, it happens. If not a mistake, if this is just where we are at then the club is in all sorts of bigger trouble imo

Voss denied that we had a higher intensity training block last week in his press conference.

Even if he has done a syndesmosis just play the kids and pack him up for the season. Get TDK and Charlie 100% for next season and sort out our list issues.

As much as the injury side of things has been a disaster this year, it's not the reason we've capitulated the last 2 months.

Whoever replaced Russell needs to be the best of the best. The constant injury issues is a disaster for the development of youngsters which is where my fear lies the most.
