Geez, that’s scary. I was just thinking of this gif just now as I am thinking of Weitering not being suspended and Acres being fine.

Injury report says collarbone with no reference to shoulder at all?

Blake Acres (collarbone)

  • Cleared of a fracture to his collarbone
  • Will be managed this week and will need to undergo a fitness test next week to assess his availability to play

Good news on Acres. He'll play, probably tape the opposite shoulder should they decide to target the injury. The only real worry with an injury like that would be how well he tackles. Normally a good tackler, he may struggle to really stick them if he plays sore. Looking like we are going to go into our first final with a heap of good players to choose from and a side that will be pretty good on paper but perhaps lacking a little matchfitness.

reckon next Friday night we'll see the benefit of getting late games into Harry, Cerra, Walsh & Gov + having Doc & Crippa on fresh legs.

100%. If that never happened I would not be very confident that we get through our first final. The week off is also huge for us. It really does help more good players get up for finals.

One thing that is a shame is our VFL team not making it through to finals. Not just for player development but to get games into some others such as Boyd.

Great news re Blake , he's a tough nut so will probably deal well with the pain

Treatment for this injury also known to eliminate any oof, especially in Sept
Beginning to think Acres oof's are like sunlight to superman, spinach to Popeye, hair to Samson… once he gets it out of the way he like recharges and goes into beast mode.

Russell’s injury management for him this week is to kick 2 oofs every 4 hours, 3 times a day.

Be great if he got those out of the way during the warm up lol

Tom Morris on SEN saying Acres is confident of playing, hasn’t done any contact work and it’s all about pain management.

You should have posted this is the EF thread.

Carlton will give Blake Acres until Thursday to prove his fitness for their elimination final, in a call that is likely to have knock-on effects for the Blues at selection.

Acres took part in the Blues’ session on Tuesday, but his bruised collarbone will be put to the test at the club’s captain’s run later in the week before a decision is made on whether he faces Sydney on Friday night at the MCG.

any word on Crippa? I know he's playing but does he have cracked ribs or sth?
Fairly unlikely that even if he did that we would go round telling everyone about it. Would be a bit like him wearing a luminous vest with a flashing hit me here sign on it.

Friday night will be 27 days since he was injured against the dees. Played 7 days later against G.C (to ensure that finals were booked in) and will now have had a 20 day rest.

Will be cherry ripe.

Whatever happens this year, how good to think Zac Williams will come back to the playing list next year - effectively a new recruit. If he can come back half as well as some other injury prone guys have, it’ll be a massive bonus - will only strengthen our hand. Even if it only ends up translating into trade capital - still a bonus.
