I'm in the "what difference does it make to supporters, corner" it is what it is. I'd be more pissed off if we are selecting players carrying injuries while healthy substitute's are in the VFL, and then make the "but of course he's not playing well this season, he's carrying an injury" excuse.

Or another option, AFL quality player A who is 85% fit, is still a better option than VFL quality player at 95% fitness
Haven’t Richmond stopped staying weeks/rounds altogether and just grouping everything as indefinite or short, medium or long term?

Not surprised

Some people think that while the player is recovering, they are also doing drills. When it says 2 weeks, that could be 2 weeks until they are back into training mode to get ready to play.

That sounds like an issue with some people's comprehension skills.

The club updates have certainly been much clearer of late.

Returning to skills training next week.
Expected to be available next week.
Underwent surgery for a meniscus tear. Expected to be available in 4-6 weeks.
Expected to be available in Round 8.
At this stage is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.
Ruled out for the 2023 AFL season.

Those aren't vague updates, for the most part.

If they believe a player will be available selection in [X] weeks, they seem to be stating that.

If the timeline is more uncertain, we get the "returning to skills training" type line. In a lot of those cases, they need to see how the player responds to increased training loads before more certainty is possible.

I'm a bit confused. Didn't you post yesterday that Saad and McGovern were good to go like you had inside info?

Then this morning it was Saad slight strain (from you) 1 - 2 weeks.

Now (trying to make a point I think) you think he'll be out for 10.

Seems to be a fair change in info and attitude.
My source was wrong. I’ve been right the last few times I’ve heard from him/her and went with it. This time I was wrong. I’ll still keep posting what I hear.

People are seriously whinging about a detailed up to date injury list, seriously.
Well it’s not that detailed at all. How about giving an estimate, how many weeks till they return would be nice. Some don’t care, others do.

But I guess if the club gives an estimate and the player is out beyond that timeline, then people will start picking on that.

My solution: No more frigging injuries..

they have been quite good, when they've named players.

i find frustrating when there was a big deal about cuningham for example playing a managed half in the VFL then nothing until this week. Jack Martin's update was this week.

lets also be honest, the club has been carrying too many injured players for too long and the fans know it too, that frustration of list management clearly bleeds into here (bleeding 1-2 years)

Why even have the estimates .. it’s stupid, rather what they did with walsh and over estimate then under like we do and it’s not looking good for cunners , Martin and marchbank .. gonski by the looks of it and even if Martin is contracted cut him loose.

For those playing along at home:
Marchbank has now missed 8 weeks with a calf strain dating back to an intraclub match sim in early March and given he is just being introduced to skills training this week that will likely climb to at least 10 before he is available for senior selection
- Martin is up to 5 week out since his “calf tightness” after the Richmond game and will be re-introduced to skills training next week that’ll likely he would have missed at least misses 7 before he is available for selection…at which time we will most likely rush him back (“because he’s class”) and he’ll reinjure said calf
- Gov who we were assured was fine by Voss post match against North is likely to miss his second game this week with a knock to the calf so you’ve got to think he’s doubtful for the flight to Perth…unless he has teed it up with his manager to meet the Eagles (good riddance)
- Cunners has now missed 3 games since suffering “calf tightness” after the GWS reserves game and will be introduced to skills next week so the earliest we can expect him to be available in round 8 or 9…2024

A lot of familiar names experiencing familiar injury problems resulting in the same underperforming players needing to be selected in the league.

Despite Voss’ post Round 23 loss comments the “hard decisions” by list management were on the whole avoided at the end of last year and here we are again.

It’s not bad luck anymore people, it’s just plain bad management.

"Tightness" at the CFC must mean total disintegration at the atomic level of the muscle with a minimum return timeframe of 6 weeks

Only if Player A is able to recover from their injury whilst playing, the option might be to take 2 weeks off and return at close to 100% fitness.
I reckon too many either returned too early or were playing half-lame and couldn't reach a reasonable level of fitness in the second half of 2022.

Cunners a half of footy and then out for 5 weeks. Martin played Rd 1 then gone for nearly 2 months.

Add marchbank, Williams and gov and it really is a joke.

I'm starting to agree a bit more transparency would be ideal. Am I meant to know what returning to skill training means, and why Cuningham would be doing that after returning a couple of weeks ago.
I am a strong critic but the return to skills training is fine for me- usually means another couple then full training then games. 3-4 weeks usually.

The bit that would be great is to get a good over view of the over all approach for the guys who keep breaking down.

Sorry still confused. How did you go from having faith that your source was right yesterday and that Saad would be playing to now believing that he will be out till round 16?

Certainly another consideration

I don't look back to 2022, when considering injuries and rehab, only what we are doing now

It’s lucky we subbed Gov in the last quarter of the North game as a precaution.

Remember Voss’ presser...”no, no he’s fine”….If hadn’t he would have missed the next couple games.
Thought the reporters would have known by now -- Voss always says they are good as far as he knows it pre cautionary we will take a look Monday Tuesday .. waste of time asking him in pressers he will always straight bar all fine here

Waste of time asking any coach in an after match presser

Reporter: McGovern went off early today, how is he? Will he play next week?
Voss: Yeah, he went off early in the 3rd quarter with tightness in the calf. So while the game was being played out, I hopped in the car and took him down to the clinic for a few scans. We then had a consultation with a specialist, and it's looking like a 1-2 weeks on the sidelines, so we then popped over to the physio to work out a rehab program. I've just got back - did we win?

Lol Adelaide have only 1 player on their injury list and it's someone I've never heard of so their best 32+ players are fit and ready to go...

Brisbane have 4 but they are all no names.

Just once could we have that kind of luck....would love to see how we perform with a proper good run with injuries.

Th Darren Burgess effect.
Have a look at his history over the past few years.

Put a line through Cuners and Marchbank. I wish it wasn’t this way, but their bodies aren’t up to the rigours of AFL. I suppose we knew this last year but weren’t willing to cut them, probably because we didn’t have the picks etc to get someone decent.

Martin is much the same. And I would pay out his contract. I doubt anyone will be seeking to pick him up, unless Darren Burgess at Adelaide wants to test his skills.

Gov at least has gotten on the ground. Maybe 12 weeks of Gov is worth keeping him on the list.
