“We are after a mystery player who wears number 7...” must be the new, “I have insider information that a player is signing with us but I can’t tell you guys which player it is in case his agent reads this thread and doesn’t let his client sign with us”.

Best just to breath and wait until Monday when the trade period opens. That is all we can do. SOS and Co will get the trades we already know about completed and if they’re working on trades we don’t know about, we will know about those ones, too.

Is Viney Elite though? Have we had a crack at him previously? I suspect Brad Crouch, and I suspect the #7 reference is to the length of the contract on offer to him (would make him 32 at the end of it, so he fits the age demographic).
Well as far as being an inside mid it could be argued he’s elite at his best.

Good point re crouch. Equally likely it’s him I guess. I’d happily take Crouch and back in Jack Russell to nail his training program so his body can hold up.

* supporters aren't taking Daniher wanting to leave, very well. 🤣
They shouldn't be. Two first round picks for an injury riddled forward who is still living off potential. But hey, its * so who gives a shit.

As much as im disappointed with the Charlie news, I'm surprisingly excited to see how Matt Kennedy could go playing that 3rd tall with Papley and Martin alongside. Can seriously kick a goal that kid and with the pressure Martin, Betts and Papley would be putting on at ground level I think he could really break out in a niche as a bit of a Jaimie Cripps type

And as we said at the time, well some of us did, he could play to 35..

I'm not saying we should have got absolutely nothing for him but even if we did get something what was he worth? A pick in the 60s, 70s, 80s?

As much as people want to say Ellis is a fringe player, in his 8 years at Richmond he averaged 22 games per year and is a dual premiership player.

Waite had loads of potential but was never a consistent performer for us due to injury or his suspensions due to his lack of discipline.

The only way we would have got any value at all from Waite at the end was for him to stay , not through FA compensation.

Yeah and way better compo than we got for Waite, who was one of our KPP at the time, not just a fringe 22.

True but we got NOTHING for him - how fair is that?

That was 5 years ago.

Wish ppl would just let it go.

Given Waite was an unrestricted free agent, the Blues were unable to keep him by matching North's offer. And on Friday afternoon, the AFL announced that the Blues would be left empty handed under the free agency compensation model.

"Based on the player's age (31) and the contract offer, the AFL advised the Carlton FC there would be no compensation for the loss of player Waite," the AFL said in a written statement.

My best guess is SOS wouldn’t have ruled out any of Gaff, Wines or Viney.

There’s a clear logic to all three leaving their current clubs and I’m guessing those clubs are waiting to see the best offer for them (from all bidders) and likewise SOS is waiting to see where we can “win”.

We have been connected to Gaff and Wines before so only Viney would be a surprise - but with the Dees looking to replace him as Captain and his father out after a poor year there could be both personal and professional reasons he wants out.

I’m not sure which of these three I would want more - each have their strengths and both Wines and Viney bring leadership and will probably ply longer.

Wines all the way.
Mark my words - if he plays for us in this team it will be like having 2 Patty Cripps running around, alternating between mid and forward.
Gun and no-one would regret trading him in.

I thought JJ was put out by Essendon's treatment of him in the year he spent there
Beggars can't be choosers right now
With daniher gone he will get maximum game.timr and hopefully a bit of love. Doesn't seem like there was much for a number of players at West lakes..

Hey,
Does anyone know if the old fella selling peanuts at Princess Park is still around ?
He might be able to give us a few bags to buy the mystery player with !!!
If all the named targets land at Carlton in this trade, peanuts is all that’s left to bring in an elite mid...only my opinion of course !!

I was using this point to demonstrate that Benny Gale is whining about nothing given that Tigers got 2nd round compo.
Wish mods would stick to modding.

Mods are posters as well and have opinions just like everyone else.

No need for the cheap shot!

Benny Gale can whinge as much as he likes.

They got Lynch for NOTHING!
