probably lack of currency after doing Papley and Martin trades. It would be bad faith to renege on their deals just because something shinier came along.

How do you know they're procrastinating?
Seems evident to me that there's a lot of haggling going on, and making provisional deals with picks they don't yet have to ensure a trade provides the desired outcome. Sydney don't sign off on Papley until they know they'll be left with enough to get Daniher and whatever else they plan on getting. Picks pass through 3 or 4 clubs, so there's a complex web of negotiations taking place while clubs line everything up to ensure they're not going to be left holding a pick they don't have a use for, or left short-handed for another deal they're trying to close.
Make me.
Also, why should I? It's a rumour discussion thread and I was literally discussing a rumour.

Probably cost, both in what we'd give up and what they would mean in terms of other targets. Probably means we wouldn't have been able to get Papley and Martin and we thought the 2 of them with the roles they play would be more valuable than what the 1 could offer.
Funny you say that. It seems like Cutler is one of those players that'll move late as he doesn't have a clear destination yet. A Newman-type deal on the last day once we know where we stand on other deals would be well received.Cutler.

Totally agree. Seems SOS/Blues could be throwing that out there as a 'move' (public perception) regarding the Papley/Betts deals. Can still see him as an option, which Butler's manager inferred is the case for us.
Wrap up Papley, Martin and Betts then snaffled Cutler and Butler late. Then finish off with Benny Rutler to bring it home.

I know they’re procrastinating, because regardless of the length of the trade period, the vast majority of trades get pushed until the last day or two. They’re all just working to the deadline.
If you’re haggling over trade value for 48 hours, how much is going to change after that time? But there’s no incentive to get the deals done until they have to be.
