This. He sprays kicks under no pressure. Runs too fast for himself and struggles to kick on the burst. Rarely delivers the ball i50 effectively.

How can you criminally overvalue something you depend upon to build your list? All of our talent were draft picks.

What I think Carlton has criminally undervalued, is adding top end U18 talent to our list every year, perhaps this excludes a top four finish with an aim for a premiership however that's definitely not Carlton in 2019. I think if we were to be left with no picks inside the top 40 in this years draft it would be risky and premature. But hey, I'm certainly no expert I just worry a little that we're jumping the gun.

In the last 4 drafts, we've added 7 (7!) top 10 draft picks, and a total of 11 first rounders.

No successful team has built their list by taking high draft picks in every draft. Geelong (3) and Hawthorn' (4) flags were each built on 2 strong drafts. Richmond's was on 4 senior guns, then a bunch of role players (and adding Lynch as a FA for their 2nd).

We have so much young talent that our list is unbalanced. And Papley is the absolute perfect fit for us.

If you keep hitting the draft, you end up churning like the Giants (who had a very different set-up to us, and were designed to churn). 2 years ago they spent #11 on Bonar. Now they're happy to sell him for anything inside #30. This is not the way we want to be managing our list.

It's really not that strange at all.

You see Hawthorn understand this principle and they know where they are and what will serve them best in the medium to longer terms.
Hawthorn had no issues moving on Hodge, Mitchell, Birchall, Lewis and were happy to cut Roughead in order to allow senior development to youngsters.
This is really important but the timing has to be right forcing greater responsibilities to the younger guys.

We've now dropped in the young leaders who have had a year to get into the swing of the role and it makes for a good time to deputise other young players, should they be suitable, of course and if Walsh was our best 21 and under trainer, then give him a chair in the leadership group also. Don't worry about age.
The guys you list were on their last legs at Hawforn. Cas seems to have grown a new leg and he is not keeping anyone out of the side each week. Very few players are sacrosanct however, Cas is pretty close based on his versatility and standing within the club.

Bigfooty will be like the Damned - Clash if all our targets aren't secured by Wednesday.
If it all follows the AFL script then a smiling Eddie will get his photo taken at Princes Park tomorrow.

Then everything else will stall until 10 minutes to go on Wednesday to create maximum tension and prime trade TV.

And then SOS will leap into action and snare Papley, Martin and Viney (our mystery man???) with seconds remaining.

It will be legendary and we will pass this story on to generation after generation.

Damned is always a distant 4th band, with the Stranglers.

Granted, Stranglers were all 45 years old, but they didn’t do sugar awful covers.

I can see Gold Coasts perspective though picks greater than first round don't really have that much value. Especially when they can just pick Martin back up if he walks to the PSD draft. A player that would be in their top 25 would be much more attractive.
The Suns have a pretty tight salary cap apparently.
Martin can heavily front end his contract conditions and they, and Melbourne, would not be able to match it.

Always struggled to get into The Stranglers. Who were the 1st, 2nd and thirds Stig? Pistols, Clash and Buzzcocks / Billy Childish?

Dolls were the first with dress up anger, then the Ramones turned it into 2 minute mania, any number of NY bands inspired it, if you want to look at its roots......Stooges, MC5.

Was the mystery player Tom Phillips from Collingwood. Reports are he’s going to leave and sign for Geelong due to salary pressures at the pies.
Be a poor loss for Collingwood if this happened. Good role player for them

How can the cats get involved with hill at 900k? Must be for less and if so why can’t we have a dabble for less..

He won’t be at Geelong, that story first came from PerthNow in WA, then everyone picked it up.

Bell & Freo got pants by St Kilda, when 6 was downgraded. so now they are leaking this to put pressure on them. Like last year when Bell released a press release saying “we are out of the hogan race” this is this years version. Guy is worst than Dodoro

The Saints list manager inferred that it wasn't 900K pretty clearly through the week.

I'd certainly be for looking at Hill in the event the Papley deal is looking unlikely. We have the money, we have a good pick to base our offer around, we certainly have the need, and we potentially have a destination of some appeal to foster indigenous talent.
