I’ve read enough of this shit. The melts are delicious but they reflect on the poster more than the outcome of today.

In what universe is Martin worthy of a first rounder? Gold Coast just lost a player who was worth a second round pick for nothing. Absolutely incomprehensible that it would do that.

As for Papley. The Swans were never trading for Papley as a seperate deal. We would have offered #9 but the Swans didn’t need it if * wouldn’t accept two first rounders for Daniher. For * to knock back that deal is as incomprehensible as the Martin outcome.

I’m happy with our list.

It’s not the end of the world.

Can't believe the melts on here. Can't keep up with this topic.
Would have loved to end up with Papley, but good on SOS for holding firm. If Sydney weren't willing to hand him over for pick 9 because Dodo was being a dodo, then we move on.

As for Martin - fingers crossed for the PSD. GC are obviously taking a stand, and unwilling to let him go for what he's worth. Would rather we hold firm on a 2nd round pick (and potentially pick him up for free) than hand over pick 9.

A disappointing trade period because we didn't hand get our targets, but I'm happy we held firm.

Equal risk that the Suns redrafting Martin creates a headache for the AFL in dealing with the AFLPA.

GCS won't redraft him against his will.

Instant Rule 22 Application for Release filed by Martin's manager and AFLPA the minute after that happens, if it happens.

Silvagni’s bosses are surely questioning why he put all his eggs in a basket that totally relied on another pretty unlikely trade.

Martin should have been priority number one from then on and only step back in regarding Papley if Daniher was traded.

He stuffed up - and I say this having always hated Tom Papley.

Wonder if we trade split our pick 9 for later first rounder plus second rounder or just get the best player with # 9?

My issue is that they realised early Papley will be too hard, so why not target someone else?

Why not look at Bonar? Why not target Butler as another option?

We have to question the stratergy. The plan was going to draft for 3 years and then go down the trade path. Miss out on Coniglio, went hard for a player with 4 year contract and took a real risk at picking up Martin.

We downgraded our backup ruckman.

I don't call this an overreaction... whether it's the startergy, the players we targetted or not having any backups, we failed miserable this trade period

Exactly. I cannot understand if getting Papely was hinged on Daniher getting to Sydney surely SOS would know what Dodo is like and look at contingency plans.

Think unlike others his main aim is to get back to Victoria...will peg his flag to another ship next year I reckon...most likely to get him over the line.

There is little doubt that Carlton would have indicated to him they could get the deal done, and haven't. Whether it is our fault or not won't change the result I don't think...

I’d say there are huge doubts that SOS would ever have said he could just get the deal done when he knew from the get-go so much was reliant on Essendon
