Pretty sure Dow was injured in pre season and carried it most of the year.dows fitness looked to be a problem this year. he has to improve his fitness and also needs to add a bit of size.
Particularly when clubs front end big dollars in a deal to fit salary cap needs, then said player runs with the big bucks in pocket to a new club.Great post.
I for one am in total agreement with you. I do believe players should be made to honour their contracts, but...
If a player has a major life issue which is preventing them from living comfortably and the need to go back home is dire, then yes by all means ask for a trade.
If it’s for greed or the want to just return home then I believe the club trading should be overly compensated, which we most certainly were with Gibbs.
Now don’t for one second think I didn’t want Papley, I did!
This will be an unpopular opinion among the masses but I’m glad Daniher and Papley were held to their contracts.
I’d want SOS to do the same, which he did with Bryce, if one of our interstate players wanted to return home whilst contracted.
The Daniher situation is a little different but a contract is a contract.
You can’t sign longish term deals for security then as soon as something changes up and leave.
Obviously there can be extenuating circumstances and life changing situations can arise at the drop of the hat, but they are employees at the end of the day and a contract is a contract.
Unless of course

then the club with the player wanting to leave holds the whip hand.
Dodoro holding off for 12 months gives his club time to either get Joe to stay, or alternatively find some sort of replacement or a better draft in which to be remunerated.
I’m still hopeful we’ll get Paps. Wines would also be awesome.
The deal that should’ve been simple was the Martin trade, and now we get him for nothing. So EAD. Cochroach
What does our best 22 look like?if our best 22 is available for round 1 then i would be confident we can be competitive and jag a win against the ferals.
It depends on who you ask. What does our best 22 look like? I
If one of our better contracted players wanted out and we got overs, you do the deal and move on
That's what many said last year. Hope it's true this time.Have a good feeling about Kennedy this year. If he is over his ankle issues, reckon he could start getting some serious midfield minutes.
curnow fit mcgov and H in the side with eddie...usual backs with hopefully doc back in the side. kruze in ruck. fit dow and stronger bulkier jsos. potentially martin. What does our best 22 look like?
As will LOBSecond year player whose good performance in his first year raised the expectations that supporters place upon him, we've
Been down this path recently with Weitering. He just needs time, I'm confident that Dow will be fine.

So been away for a few days ... is every campaigner finished with throwing their toys out of the cot yet??
Is it sacrilege for me to say Doc isn’t in my best 22? I’m just not expecting anything after two acls. Of course I hope I’m wrong, but just seems a lot to come back from.curnow fit mcgov and H in the side with eddie...usual backs with hopefully doc back in the side. kruze in ruck. fit dow and stronger bulkier jsos. potentially martin.
we can only hope he'll be ok. he is the type to take the recovery program seriously. Is it sacrilege for me to say Doc isn’t in my best 22? I’m just not expecting anything after two acls. Of course I hope I’m wrong, but just seems a lot to come back from.

Was really impressed with Gibbo this year. Seems like he played better as the season went on. Great work ethic and determined. Should've been rewarded with a contract.

No, same here. It just suits the way I look at things to view his possible inclusion as a bonus rather than a given. Is it sacrilege for me to say Doc isn’t in my best 22? I’m just not expecting anything after two acls. Of course I hope I’m wrong, but just seems a lot to come back from.
Financially it certainly does.He got a contract.
Being on the rookie list rather than the senior list makes zero difference for the player now, it's just a way of the club managing the list.
sorry what is this about?Except from the trampolining
