***************************************************

Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

Yip our stoppage work especially defensively is pathetic. Too often the oppo walk it out of a pack and distribute to one or two (sometimes more) options on the outside....

Arent we overstating the stoppages a little bit. That sure occurs when we have those quqrters where we dont score, but we were also 3rd in quarters won IIRC - which suggests when we are on top , that our stoppage work is working for us.
We just need to become consistent and that might very well occur with the addition of another 2 mature mids to the rotations

Not much they can do about it - Qld sides will always be like that, Brisbane go from being a successful club then being a feeder club for Victorian Clubs. They probably have a 4 year window to get success before they revert back to being a feeder club. GC seem to be putting together a decent young list but needs to improve quickly before they get raided. Like the Lions, they will be a yo-yo if they ever get successful - one minute they want to stay, next minute they'll be raided.

GWS gave it a good crack and seemed to have signed their stars but in the end they wont keep them all and now looks like the bottom is about to fall out

Thats historical. I think the worm has turned in qld TBH. Look at sydney now, they are far from being a feeder club.

We don't need all these inside ish mid types, just one of would do nicely

Take a pick

Viney, Wines, Graham
Wines out of the three for me. But would still try to pick Graham up too if possible.

Wonder if getting one of Wines or Viney means we're not in a position to go after Saad already having Williams coming in? If we still had the cap space for Saad and we miss him why not get Graham too.

Wines would very much be a statement signing by us, even more so than Williams (and Williams was big).

I'm all in on that boat, just can't see him leaving... Unless they win the premiership this season, as odd as that sounds.

Depends how genuine he was about getting across last year. He's one we won't hear anything on for at least a few weeks yet. Although if he lets it get to trade period without stating his intentions to stay beforehand I'd say he's out the door.

Port will do a Brisbane of 2019 and go out in straight sets.

Sorry Damo, but "a form of contact"?

Like Wines, rumoured to have been real sweet on us last year, cost would be more than Viney and Graham, but there's no doubting he is in some very good form at the moment.

If Port are open to it, I'm good too. Pick 7 by itself, maybe swapping some later picks. If they want to push for two firsts they can piss right off and we'll take Viney as a free agent or Graham for a second.

I feel there is something BBBIIIGGG brewing..

Wines & Viney. Great mates. Always wanted to play together. Get it done AUSTIN..

'He likes what the Blues have sold to him'

I wonder if that includes the chance to be one of 7 players from the 2016 draft crop, and one of 16 from the 3 drafts from 2015 to 2017. Not a bad core group of players who will mature at the same time. Plus Cripps, Doch & Williams who are stars with at least 4-5 years of high level football left in them. Pretty attractive proposition for a 22 year old I would reckon. Oh yeah, and then there's the coin 🤑
Remember when players had to impress the club?

For the cost, I would have it in this order

Viney
Graham
Wines

I think we have enough for all of Williams, a HB and one of the above

Would you be OK with us getting both Graham and Wines if we traded out Kennedy?

No. I'd only take one at most, even if we traded Kennedy.

Either Graham for his running capacity or Viney for his unconditional attack on the footy, as well as the fact that he's got more leg speed than wines.

I'd personally target other areas given we also have Dow, Stocker, Kemp and Philp who can all play as inside midfielders.
