Firstly, every player has a price but no player nearly has a price of what he’s asking for. Secondly, does he after so many years in the job not understand that when a player is OOC and wants to go - he won’t be back. He has no leg to stand on. Austin should just laugh in his face and say come back when you grow a brain and become reasonable. Here’s a starting point, if you’re not willing to comply we will obtain through other avenues.

This hypothetical is not absurd for him, and given the way he deals (style; he treats it like marketplace bartering. "This scarf is made of terrible materials, I'll give you five cents for it!") it's not what he expects to get, merely his starting point.

100%. He can also still name terms similar to Martin which makes him unattractive draft to a rival club. Please see 6.3 (b)

We can. That is what I think we should/will do if it got to that stage. We would probably pick him up in the draft for that pick 27 that we have. No club will use a top 30 pick on a player who they have not done a medical/interviewed at the expense of a young top 30 draftee.

Absolutely can and I believe it's how we should do it. Try to turn our 7 into 2 of geelongs first rounders. Offer Dodo the worst of these picks. Negotiate no further, tell him to get in touch if he wants to accept. If he does, great. If he doesn't use our lower first round pick in ND on Saad and get a kid as well (assuming no other trades pop up).

I would be shattered if he went PSD and north took him. Someone in demand that committed to us so far in advance deserves us to do everything we can to get him. Put as big a price as we can afford on his head for a 1 year, then extend it once he arrives for 4 years so it works out to the terms we agreed to. A north is less likely to sacrifice a kid for saad than they would be to sacrifice the delisted guy in the psd they can take instead of saad.
