Obviously, that’s ridiculous.

Don’t know how many of you have to negotiate as part of your jobs, but when someone is simply being ridiculous you walk away. They will come back.

But more importantly, they have no credibility and they may well get ignored. When a negotiator gets ignored, they’re actually not helping anyone, especially their client.

And Saad has already said he’ll go PSD.

I'd be staggered if any of the 17 other list managers would try anything even approaching this bullshit. Dodo is literally a joke.

Thanks TRP. Awesome news in my book. Makes it easier to walk Saad through the draft Luke Ball style. The Pies used pick 30 on a 26 YO Ball. It's now a PR war. Austin & Agresta should stop negotiating if * are going to be silly about it. Make them sweat until the trade period opens. Day 1 - split pick 7. Day 2 - publicly state we have offered a late first round pick, then wait. 2 hours before the trade period closes, sweeten with an offer to exchange late picks in * favour. If Dodo doesn't blink, happy days! They get zilch, we draft him for less than offered and their feral supporters will wreck the joint.

Nah day 1 - Trade 7 and future first for Oliver, or
DeGoey with a second coming back

Offer 3rd rounder to Dodo

Legit Austin wouldn’t even glance at him. He would just pack his paperwork up and walk out the room without saying a word

Sounds absurd, but Adrian's silly enough for it to be true.

If it is, I want the club to call his bluff and split the pick on day one.
Agree, split the pick asap. Assuming it’s two late first rounders, offer the latter of the picks and say take it or leave it.

If he doesn’t accept a late first rounder for a hbf with 4 or 5 years to go, then say forget it we’ll take our chances with the PSD. Then start negotiating with other teams for trades.

Essendon has everything to lose if Saad goes to the PSD, and we will still get good players/picks with the late rounders and still hopefully get Saad.

I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with irrational transactional partners before on high leverage topics.

On the basis that I knew his reputation and history, I would firstly get back to him and say - that’s a transparently ridiculous claim, but I get you need to set out a marker, and you can consider it set. Now - give me something realistic and we can get to work.

if he’s not moving substantially from there, I’m setting my terms, very close to the bone. I’m giving him a time at which that expires. it’s a hard deadline, because at that point I’ll need to move in another direction. I’m here to deal - with you or someone else, because we’ll back the draft getting him to us.

then I’m getting Liddle on the phone to Campbell. Simple message. We like Dodo, we respect what he sees as his role to protect the interest of * but : we’ve all got a lot to do, we can all see a middle ground if we want to be sensible and ultimately, the blokes out of contract and we all know he’s going to find his way to us. So let’s get on with things and maybe we can all shake hands at the end of it and get on with improving our clubs lists without a distracting pissing contest that helps no one.

fu** this campaigner (not even gonna use campaigner), tell him to get royally f’ed and end discussions right now, PSD draft or play at North.

These clown supporters need look no further to ascertain why they are are ******* embarrassment to themselves.

Bits I’ve read on Essendon supporters is they’ll take Pick 7 and do the deal quickly.

This is 💯 % true. Saad camp are ropeable on DoDo hence why the threat to enter the draft came out.

There are what, 5 players in the league worth Sam Walsh and a first round pick? I call nonsense

Can someone please confirm whether we can draft saad in the NATIONAL draft, as opposed to the PSD. I believe this was how Luke ball was recruited by pies. And a much safer way to go... anyone know about this?

Yes.
And I think the Luke Ball option makes more sense for us this year than PSD.

Excellent post.

That’s how negotiating is done. We don’t just get to “walk away” because we’ve heard 1 bad offer we would never accept.

Dodo might be a dick, but we’re after a player on his list, so we have to deal with him.

There’s still 4 weeks till trade period even starts. Plenty of water to go under the bridge yet
