7 plus Walsh/CC, would almost think Dodoro asked for that just to see the ten pages of reactions here

First meeting with Dodo, tell him our two firsts are committed to another deal, no players are willing to be traded to a club imploding and then ask what other picks he is willing to accept.

After he craps on, offer our second for this year, or next, and a swap of later picks such as our fourth for their fifth. Tell him the terms will only get worse because we have other deals getting done. Advise that we will check back with him once per day at a nominated time and if he says no, we will let him know what the new available offer is and use the picks he rejected in other deals we have done while he was undecided.

Make him understand we are prepared to walk away and take our chances in the preseason draft if he continues to be true to previous form.

Talk to Norf about players we are considering delisting and trade them in a bundle for a nothing price after explaining what the original request from Dodo was so it helps them to ignore what we are doing to him, and they don’t make a stupid play for Saad in the preseason just because he is available.

Surely all clubs are sick of dealing with his unreasonable behaviour by now.

As long as Austin doesn't make the same mistake as SOS did last year and let Essendon dictate time - that is an improvement.
I'll repeat what I said a week ago - if there is a use for pick 7 - any use that is positive for Carlton - use it up ASAP and take it off the table.
This makes the shenanigans easier to deal with - nto only with Dodoro - but anyone selse similarly disposed to run down clocks etc etc

Dodoro is doing the best he can for Essendon - that is his job. Essendon may well feel under seige atm - so they may be of the mind that optics towards their core supporter base is worth more than makinhg life easier for Carlton or players on their list that wish to leave.

All this chest puffing doesn't get a deal done- and 'a' deal isn't a trade period.

As for Degooeee or whatever its name is- there is a diference between mongrel and stoppid - dont want.

Sure.

Here are some facts:

JDG is currently facing charges of indecent assault related to a 2015 incident.

He was caught in 2017 lying to the club about an injured hand, which he hurt in a bar fight.

In 2018 he was caught driving drunk in 2018 and indefinitely suspended by the club.

In 2019 he was caught driving with a suspended license and on his phone.

He is currently set to face trial on Oct 30th. If found guilty he may be sentenced up to 10 years of Jail.

Each time he has apologised, been accepted back by the club. What does that tell you?

So your saying hes one of the better behaved filth players..............................;)

Dodoro wanting pick 7 plus more is him posturing to get pick 7. But media are falling for it.

Pick 7 would be a great deal for * and Dodoro knows that, but we shouldnt be sucked in into giving it. A pick at around 15 is all we should be giving

That type of negotiation is so old-school, tiring and ultimately pointless.

Austin should simply set the bar with it being pick ~#16 odd and that's what will be paid, either to Essendon or in the draft.
State that we'll be trading #7 out, if that's already on the cards and any talk of the #7 is now non-existent.
I do though think that should that #7 walk out for Saad along with Kennedy, and something coming back to us (future second) that the EFC would be very happy.

I still don't blame Dodoro entirely though as he did his job getting the player they wanted to the club, yet the club didn't do what it had to do, to keep the player and now it's back on Dodoro to make good out of a bad situation.

I understand all that. And I agree.

However, he’s twice the player Dustin Martin is, and I’m certain Carlton, just like Collingwood, would be right across his personal situation, and would take all of that into consideration, and act appropriately.

From a pure footballing perspective, I’d get him even if it meant he was the highest paid player at our club.
I might have to disagree with your 2nd sentence.

So you think 7 + Kennedy for Saad and a future second. I’m taking Kennedy out of that deal.

As much as it is fun to think about this scenario of * missing out on compensation for Saad (and I have brought it up myself), not getting Saad shouldn't be an option. I definitely wouldn't brag about screwing over * in this scenario. Missing out on getting Saad does nothing for Carlton, except hurt the team.
I agree with this post, in that we should definitely try to negotiate Essendon around to the point where they're accepting something for Saad ahead of us just bypassing them for the PSD. But ultimately, we should not **** ourselves over to accommodate them, either.

We need to do enough to be seen to have done enough, after which we strive to get the best deal we can. It's performative, allowing us to successfully transfer the blame from having to take Saad in the PSD to Dodoro for being unable to countenance a reasonable offer.

Dodo is already doing Dodo things behind the scenes. If you thought of the most ridiculous trade demand for Saad possible, you’d need to double it to get close to his opening demand.

You’d be tearing your hair out if you’re an Essendon fan and this bloke is running the show.
Okay so thats why the PSD option is likely.

Chances of this actually happening and him getting to us?

* are the gift that keeps giving this offseason.

For Merrett, sure. Saad? Thats a hard no.
You will take pick 17, polson and this gift basket of pastrami sandwiches and coffee
And you will bloody well like it.

When separating From my ex, she made the first offer which was she takes everything + and extra 30%. She said that to negotiate you make a ridiculous offer, then I counter and we meet in the middle. I said “your on a different planet, give me something real to work with” but apparently I was ment to make a counter offer. I didn’t, we went to court. I got 45%. If she acted in a decent manner I would have settled on 20%

I’m exactly the same. My ex was on the best wicket and decided to take the piss and take me to court for nothing. Going to burn her for years financially.

start with a decent offer get a decent conversation

If they demand pick 7 and or more, just walk away

Send Saad to the PSD, with a contact of a million $ for 1 year. Once we take him, we negotiate the balance of his salary for his remaining tenure
Surely Nth would take him wouldn’t they ? They’d definitely have the cap space too !

I think we should just decide what we think a reasonable club would accept (18-20), tack on a "Dodo Tax" of a sweetener or a 2-pick improvement, and present that first up. Then never deviate from it. Refuse to play his back and forth game, just give him a "better than fair" offer and a deadline.

Yep, and that’s pick 27

So you think 7 + Kennedy for Saad and a future second. I’m taking Kennedy out of that deal.

It all depends on what the wash up may be for us.
That future second may be useful in other matters...I don't know.

The point is that for Essendon to be seen to have made good out of a bad situation, holding that #7 may be very important for them....if indeed we carry it through he trade period. If it is traded early though, all bets are off.
Kennedy? He's out of contract and frankly, not worth much out on the market, whilst being someone Essendon may make good with, because the one thing he wouldn't lack there......is opportunity.

A late first and Kennedy may ultimately suit all parties.
