7 for Saad is way overs let alone 7 and a player.
We don’t need to pay overs for an uncibtracted player.
Dodo and the Druggies can gf and we’ll take Saad Martin style in the PSD if they continue to be a pain in the **** with their demands.
We’ve got hand in this deal, abd we should use it.

Thats a horrific take, degoey isn't even the best in the comp at his position, let alone the best 'matchwinner' in the comp. If you think Oliver isn't any good then you've got issues. Like serious issues. Can understand not wanting him for fit or cost but if you think he's not even a two's player theres something seriously wrong with your ability to judge football.
De Goey is a match winner imo, and he can play up forward or in the middle which would make him a great get despite his off field stuff which Carlton would have looked at before they made any attempt for him!!! Oliver is great at getting the ball but butchers it by foot & that`s why he handballs so much...........both these players have plenty of grit which we need, but De Goey is a much greater kick of the footy and his strong body also allows him to stay over the ball wherever he plays. I just cannot see him leaving the Maggies though because Eddie would blow a fuse..........apart from 100,000 feral fans doing likewise!!!

Yeah and a culture killer...

Imagine him turning up to training spewing up because he's hungover from another bender... what message will that send to the playing group, particularly the youngsters?

Oliver doesn't butcher by foot... He's not the greatest kick but a lot of his kicks are in contested traffic. He's rated AVERAGE for effective kicks (5.7) and kicking efficiency (58.6%) over his career... Dustin Martin is at 57.9% for kicking efficiency oh and your much greater kick, match winner De Goey is also rated AVERAGE for effective kicks (5.9 -- just 0.2 more than Oliver... ) and his kicking efficiency is 59%... 0.4% higher than Oliver... yeah much greater kick..

Close but bombers want players, so either it 7+ a player from us, or a player from a 3rd party involved (brodie perhaps?)
Doesn't matter what Essendon want. You may have noticed half their players want out. If a player isn't willing to go there, then they can't be traded there.

Not 7+ either but that's just our opinions differing. Late pick in the teens.

Paul is pretty damn confident we're getting another big name player...

His mail knew about Saad approx 2 weeks before it was made known...

What do you mean 'knew about saad'? Did he say Saad will be at Carlton in 2020 2 weeks ago, or that we were after him? Just wondering as Saad to Carlton was being mentioned in here mid September, so just wondering how certain he seemed.

Yes.
And I think the Luke Ball option makes more sense for us this year than PSD.
We’d get him for a second round pick... or if we split 7 at the start of the trade period, the second first rounder would be fine.

Well excuse me for being human and having an opinion just because you don`t like him, as I have seen him win matches for Collingwood kicking 5 goals in a game up forward and as I said he can play midfield as well..........you should have a go at the club for being interested in him, as you are just so dead set against him that you jump on me for finding positives in a player that they are looking at Mr Vitriol........and I say again Oliver butchers the ball & De Goey kicks goals up forward and that`s what we need more of...........by the way the Maggies are playing finals so their culture is not quite dead yet and look up vitriol because you are full of it!!!

Further, Shiel was the wrong player for them, and the wrong deal, given their previous trades for Smith/Stringer/Saad.
The Shiel trade was overs on it's own, none of the others were bad deals in isolation, but the combination of the 4 deals has f’ed them.
They went for a bunch of flashy players, and completely ignored the fact that their biggest issue for the last 6 years has been the lack of a true big bodied inside mid. His constant drafting of outside runners in the hope that the coach can turn them into inside bulls has proven to be the clubs, and therefore his downfall.

I agreed with the match winner qualities... just pointed out his culture killing qualities as well...

Sure, you can have an opinion... but it's unsubstantiated (look up that one) ... proven by the facts...

Why should I be having a go at the club? Something official been announced? I might have missed it....

Stevie Wonder can see that De Goey's management is only using us to try and drive up his price... there's no way he's actually leaving anyway...

I can see #7 & 27 for Saad and the end of 1st round compo for Daniher.

With some shuffling back due to compo etc it’ll be something 8 & 30 for Saad & 23.

We get our player and Dodoro saves significant face.
Yeah... I can’t get passed letting Dodo save face. Saad is worth a late first round or an early second round pick depending on which direction your approaching this from. Add in the fact that Dodo has always overvalued * players and gone whinging to the AFL when clubs said no. He got two top picks for Ryder, who was promptly banned for the next 12 months. Saad has had his management announce that he will walk into the draft if Dodo ****s about. So Austin should go walking in there and say give us your best price. If Dodo mentions pick 7 or mentions us giving up a player, unless it’s as a straight swap, Austin should just packing his shit up and say see you at the draft, we’re not her to get ****ed around.

I say **** Dodo and the horse he rode in on.

Walk Saad to the PSD and let Dodo explain to his fans why they didn’t get a pick for him. I won’t hold it against Austin if we miss out.

As much as it is fun to think about this scenario of * missing out on compensation for Saad (and I have brought it up myself), not getting Saad shouldn't be an option. I definitely wouldn't brag about screwing over * in this scenario. Missing out on getting Saad does nothing for Carlton, except hurt the team.

Degoey won’t happen, but can anyone here who’s sh1tcanned him legitimately do so without fact? Playing devils advocate it just seems all too easy
Sure.

Here are some facts:

JDG is currently facing charges of indecent assault related to a 2015 incident.

He was caught in 2017 lying to the club about an injured hand, which he hurt in a bar fight.

In 2018 he was caught driving drunk in 2018 and indefinitely suspended by the club.

In 2019 he was caught driving with a suspended license and on his phone.

He is currently set to face trial on Oct 30th. If found guilty he may be sentenced up to 10 years of Jail.

Each time he has apologised, been accepted back by the club. What does that tell you?

That sounds pretty good!
I have my reservations with JDG as a negative influence re reputation/baggage, but no questions from me re his on field potential. Never had a good injury free run - could be bad luck, could be poor preparation, could be a bit of both - but undeniable talent.
Can’t see it happening, but it would be an interesting, unpredictable element to the team.

Agree. There needs to be balance on and off field!
there’s a massive risk bringing in someone like JDG. For all his on field potential I’d be more worried about his impact (negative) on the team off field.
IMO not worth the risk.
We’ve worked so hard for so long to get where we are. We don’t need any questionable characters at our club.

I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with irrational transactional partners before on high leverage topics.

On the basis that I knew his reputation and history, I would firstly get back to him and say - that’s a transparently ridiculous claim, but I get you need to set out a marker, and you can consider it set. Now - give me something realistic and we can get to work.

if he’s not moving substantially from there, I’m setting my terms, very close to the bone. I’m giving him a time at which that expires. it’s a hard deadline, because at that point I’ll need to move in another direction. I’m here to deal - with you or someone else, because we’ll back the draft getting him to us.

then I’m getting Liddle on the phone to Campbell. Simple message. We like Dodo, we respect what he sees as his role to protect the interest of * but : we’ve all got a lot to do, we can all see a middle ground if we want to be sensible and ultimately, the blokes out of contract and we all know he’s going to find his way to us. So let’s get on with things and maybe we can all shake hands at the end of it and get on with improving our clubs lists without a distracting pissing contest that helps no one.
That mate is one of the best ‘trade’ posts I have ever read. Simple, straight forward, realistic. Nice job.

Why would we give essendon 7 when we can just use 7 in the ND to pick him. We wouldn’t have to but we will if need be. Someone on draft night will be available at 7 and they’ll want to trade for the pick. Someone like GC will pay overs on draft night. We can then take him later. I know it’ll put pressure on Saad but why would we have over 7 + a player when already 7 is too much.
