Lipinski inside 50 is an upgrade on Owies and Cerra to a wing is an upgrade on Newnes. Our side looks much faster all of a sudden and would be well and truly in the window if we remain injury free.

Why is lipinski an upgrade on Owies? Owies 13 games for 15 goals, Lipinski 49 games for 29 goals?

Not seeing the logic there unless you mean the ceiling is higher for Lipinski?

Cerra will cost 700,000+ and top 10 pick, so hmmm to that.

I agree with this. Owies might not be the flashiest small forward going around but his pressure and running to help others is most notably on show most games. For me Owies provides a hell of a lot more than just goals. A few times this year have seen him save us goals against and i thought wth is he doing there. He is a smart footballer and for me a really good find. Can attribute many goals to him through his hard work to help others.

And just on that i notice there is not talk anymore of how come we didnt get Butler. I think we found a few of our own.

Cerra has mainly played outside this season with most of his possessions uncontested and goes at 69% overall and 61 by foot.

'beautiful user'. Has below average defensive attitude too. Doesn't tackle much, doesn't run well in defense and has low intercepts and pressure acts.

I don't get the hype at all. He's a good ordinary winger.

Newnes goes at 74 and a 64 kick efficiency. How many want to get rid of him and think cerra is amazingly good at the same time? Newnes runs better defensively too... Crazy.

yes, but much more upside.

Newnes defensive running is first rate and largely goes unnoticed. Even so, Newnes, Newman, Gibbons et al need to be relegated to depth, (part of the 26-32 players you'd look to during a season), and then forced off the list by emerging talent.

You do that by picking up quality.

Has been a revelation and the potential for a partnership with Honey is undeniable.

But shouldn't be on the list in 3 years imo.

Isn't Lipinksi more of a wing type?... why are we comparing a small fwd to an outside mid?

We need to stop believing other teams youngsters are better then ours and start believing and investing in our high picks. SPS is much better then people are giving credit and so are some others.

Trades are good in a “money ball” type situation where an underused player is identified and the trade cost isn’t much.

But once you start going for established players you end up giving up a lot. You end up breaking even or losing the overall trade.

Tom Morris just reported that Cerra is increasingly likely to nominate Carlton as his club of choice.

Don't know how I feel about this. Don't we want to give Dow/Kennedy/LOB as much opportunity in the midfield as possible? Don't we want Stocker to eventually move out of the backline? Getting Cerra just prevents that.

Our midfield depth is so so thin. Cerra is above all three of those blokes on exposed form. We can't turn away genuine mids when they're made available to us. We ran Crippa into the ground and will do the same to Walshy if we don't get these types in.

Not aimed at anyone, but just a request ahead of silly season.

Can we try and make our trade hypotheticals at least moderately realistic. Please try and consider the trade from the non-Blues side.

Lopsided trade hypotheticals are lots of fun, but are kinda a waste of time.

Yours Sincerely,

Snr Sergeant, I heard someone say straight swap SPS for Cera will get it done and I became frightened. Also, mummy said tomorrow night is no good. Jimmy, 9.

Who do you think? This is one of those trade scenarios just mentioned.

It was a joke, a play on from the previous post about doing realistic trade suggestions.

Where’s thylacine60 when I need him? He would have got it. :(

I think there's a spot for him in the side along with those blokes.

Keep in mind that we've been playing honest battlers like Gibbons, Newnes, Newman and Cottrell, developing but unproven players like Williamson, Fogarty, SPS and Setterfield, and aging stalwarts like Murphy and Curnow to varying degrees this season.

Plowman, Jones, Stocker
Williams, Weitering, Saad
Cerra, Cripps, LOB
TDK, Dow, Walsh
Martin, Curnow, Fisher
Owies, McKay, JSOS
I/C: Docherty, Kennedy, Honey, XXXXXX

Who is missing from that lineup?

Disappointing: SPS, Setters
Depth: Pittonet, Curnow, Fogarty, Newnes, Cottrell, Gibbons, Newman, Willo, McDonald(?)
Developing: Kemp, Carroll, Ramsay, Philp, Durdin, Parks
Permanently Injured: Marchbank, Cunners, Gov
Gone: Murphy, Casboult, Betts(?)

Last bench spot to the best performing of the Disappointing (to date), Depth and Developing, or one of the Permanently Injured on the rare occasion they're fit to play. That assumes all others are fit as well, which is rarely going to be the case.

Cerra would be nice, but not for the cost financially or the result of losing our own young talent.
maybe focus on better development & our youth might just explode without any additional waste of money.
we’ve only debuted 1 player all year, least in comp.
there’s talent there so stop trying to get rid of them before they’ve been givin the chance to show anything.

as posted earlier I’d just offer Cerra $650k and not get into a bidding war.
He will cost a lot in a trade though. If we could get him for SPS and our first rounder we have done extremely well. Personally I’d be trying to keep SPS because he really is worth stuff all.

Amongst our youngsters I can’t detect anyone that Adam Cerra would stifle and youngsters like Dow need at least another season’s development others are much further behind Paddy.
Cerra would impact positively & contribute immediately to team performance regularly.
Adam is a gun midfielder, has a good upside and a great AFL career ahead.

The young talent such as Dow,Fisher,SPS etc may want to leave?

It was on AFL Tonight on Foxtel.
Only part of the report has been posted on here.
The rest of the report went like this IF he decides to leave Freo which is still uncertain Richmond are still in the hunt as well.
Trying to sensationalize something out of nothing is our trustworthy Tom the greatest Morris.

Yup SPS and our 1st rounder should do it, if Adam remains un contracted and clearly nominates CFC as his destination club early in the trade period.
Negotiations would be a brezze & more balanced. No pressure, it all depends on what Adam Cerra would prefer to do.
