Wasn't the talent, was the attitude

If my attitude at 19/20 years of age defined my entire career, I wouldn’t be leading a team of engineers today.

I don’t know the ins and outs, I don’t know anything about the Silvagni’s personal life BUT from VFL performances I thought he was more than worthy of a crack at the seniors and worth a minimum chips rookie deal at the bare minimum. Really felt like an assassination job on SOS.

On that note full stop; SOS was a worthy list manager IMO.

Judd isn’t part of the future, and part of the problem, of course he shouldn’t be attending the board meeting.

They do need to nail his replacement though. Key to any revival from top down is strong leadership.

Judd Checked out a while ago, hasn't been there. Poor Form IMO

Re JSOS I was told in June by an exec at a club sponsor that he was being offered a year $275k deal in the hope by Liddle he would leave. Now I know for a fact this person hates Liddle so I dismissed it. I highly doubt it is true.

Same person also texted me today to say Betts will announce his retirement tomorrow (already in the news so maybe he saw it early but pretty easy to guess), we will announce on Tuesday we are parting ways with Teague (Lloyd to follow after end of season) and we are not getting Cerra.

Has also previously said both SPS and Fisher will be traded.

Take it with a grain of salt as I didn't give the JSOS stuff (or SPS/Fisher) any credence when told.

Lol why? A rookie that worked himself so far up in the club hierarchy to tempt his younger brother with more talent to come is NOT ENTITLED to a one year deal?

What exactly is your point?

Unclear.

Sometimes deals are made mate.

If you are asking my opinion of Ed's leadership skills? Look to when that bloke pulled on the Captains guernsey and look at how much he lifted for the occasion :)

Check those stats out mate.

Nothing in my previous two posts was about the actual decision to give Ed Curnow another contract - I am happy he got one - it’s the process of offering contracts whilst there is such much uncertainty about who’s staying or going that I’m really not sure on.

Maybe I should have been clearer but my point was with some of the names being bandied about for trade I’d like to know who the senior coach and list manager was before we started making decision on players staying or going, for example the current team may have a different view LOB or Samo as opposed to the new teams view (should there be a new coach and/or list manager).

And primarily why that decision needs to be made sooner rather than later.

He’s too concerned with making bank from investments. I thought he’d be a Carlton man for life. Can’t judge him for his pursuits but am disappointed at how he slowly faded into nothing from a clubland perspective..
He's never been one of those passionate guys, never wanted to be captain at either club.
I couldn't imagine him being there whilst reviewers were torching though errors..

could you imagine questions that begin like this " hey juddy did you authorize this............
More interested in waking up 2.00am for the NYSE opening or watching XRP and cardano's revival

I must admit I had a contrary view 2 months ago and he is soft, but I think LOB is worth persisting with.

He has two skills we lack - great gut runner and very very good kick.

He also looks to play corridor football.

I really hope he doesn't go. LOB stays for mine!

I think he needs to get his body healthy and fit. Don’t think the game has passed him by. Was the MVP, as voted by players in 2019. People have short memories.
Just get him to do what he does best..dont make him what he's not like we have tried with so many on the list. I don't hear people saying libba selwood parker kennedy parish Merritt oliver ect need to go forward and kick goals. Let him be f cripps

What i thought was great and a real positive is that Crippa overcame his quad tightness within a day so he could carry Murphy off. Amazing are our medical staff.

I hope you're right. His decline has been obvious, but more so his lack of discipline. Heavy handed tackles, some late. reluctance to bring other players into the game. The on field overheads for his possessions are heavy.

That said, his 2019 form was scintillating

Fair enough Lacey. I thought he showed some good signs in the first half, then barely sighted after that. Was really impressed with Serong, he is a terrific young talent. Even though that goal he kicked in the last quarter, should not have been payed. He is an absolute jet and to think Brayshaw and Fyfe did not even play. Freo are a really good young team on the up and up.

Serong would be a great fit for us, as would Brayshaw. Both are great at winning their own ball and have fantastic composure and ball use.

Would be a huge mistake to give our 1st for Cerra, showed today (mini final) he is not a big game player and doesn't win enough of his own ball.

I tell you who i would love at the club? Liam Baker

He brings exactly what we need

Just wish I could be confident of the integrity around the decision.
Rumoured to be less motivated than big brother, needed some attaboy type coaching and integration in to the group proper. I saw enough from the VFL and scratchies to have confidence in his ability. With our shortage of key position players it was incongruous to jettison our three depth KPD (Ben was/is a swing man). Given the hatchet job on SOS by Liddle and his minions, can we be confident young Ben was not up to it, or was he an easy target?

Confidence in anything Liddle or any of his appointments have or will make? Seriously ?

That is a hard no from me.

I think if Ben was up to the level another club would’ve had a dip. I do believe he deserved another year to prove his worth especially considering his light build but it’s a ruthless industry. List sizes also didn’t help, though with a guy like Liddle you can never be 100% sure.

On top of his 20+ Disposals at >80% DE and 300+ MG he was 5th on the ground fort total distance at high speed. Second in our squad to only Walsh.

Great runner and user.

I get the feeling the role was just a notch on the belt for him, he didn't care for it.
Like all stock traders, inside rail is key.
Few at the presidents lunch offer him more than he could ever offer the club in a directors role.

honorary roles that dont pay are useful if there's something to gain for these types.
