Tom Morris going with Melbourne have categorically denied that Oliver is going anywhere

Melbourne have likely snagged Brown passed medical today..

Also how do North Melbourne only want pick 23 for Ben Brown..
Seriously WTF they have lost their minds, he has been in the Coleman 2017- 4th, 2018- 2nd, 2019-2nd.

If we dont get Oliver, why not just get Brown for second rounder and play Curnow in the middle or on the wing with Walsh

Wtf is the obsession with playing Charlie in the middle?

Split 7 for two late firsts, trade one of those and a future first and a player to melbourne for oliver, offer the other to essendon and let that deal go to the wire. If no deal done pick saad in ND at pick 27 or even use the other late first aquired with the splittting of 7 for the lovely irony of it. done done and done.

I'm loving Oliver to Blues, but that second bit has me worried. Sounds like an invitation for Dodo to bend us over. Although, there is still the option of the ND.
I'm guessing the salary cap wouldn't be a problem with the ND? Rather than price being a deterrent, other clubs would have to weigh up using a first round pick on a player who doesn't want to come to the club.

There are others on this board who understand these things better than me. Interested to hear other views on this.
End of the day, does it really matter if we get all 3? Who care if he gets pick 17 or 7? Just gotta get the targets.

Club playing it smart this year, expect timing of when Oliver news leaks to be pretty calculated so as not to be too impacted by external factors like the Papley deal last year.

He's a superb athlete and could be a game changer there, it's pretty easily to be tantalised by the thought of it; he'd be the best athlete at every centre bounce.

That doesn't mean it's the best option, or that he'd even play well in the role, but you can't blame anyone for getting excited at the thought.

Tom Morris is live chating on that article

”how did u find out Carlton are paying Williams 850k-900k think you're just doing a Kane Cornes and making up the numbers
Haha.

(Tom Morris‘ reply) “Ok Sam, my source was.... 🤐

He might have no idea I reckon.

I think the timing is perfect after SOS dropping his load in the media yesterday. Gives people something else to think/talk about.

What a shit movie that was.

In the event that there's a breakdown in either communication or relationships within the football department the issue then goes up the chain of command.
At a guess:
Step 1) Lloyd
Step 2) Liddell
Both would be within their remit to overrule what they deem to be inappropriate actions.
Look your right, i have no problem with debate and decisions having to be made that’s how it works, i just find it a little strange that your list manager who’s position is in charge of contracts players wages and the clubs entire salary cap structure can be overruled by others...

Only 3 Victorian clubs in front of us, 1 of which is Essendon and Saad isn't meeting or doing medicals with any of them - I can't see the the amount we offer being a big factor.
Plus how many will even have a selection come the PSD with list size reduction.

Sam Edmund also said that there may be a salary dump going back the other way to offset the huge salary St Kilda is paying Crouch (Dunstan or Webster). If that’s not called out as complete and utter manipulation of the rules then this competition is completely stuffed.

We tried to do a similar thing with Kreuzer a few years ago when we were on our knees and the AFL basically told us we were not getting band 1 compo. Adelaide have had one bad year and are getting looked after for some reason.

Which team offered a Kruz a 5 year deal worth $3.5M? It didn’t happen so of course we wouldn’t get band 1 compo, getting rid of players to make room for bigger $$$ signings isn’t manipulation, it’s what all clubs do to make cap space.

If we are paying Williams $800,000 and trigger band 1, why should the Crows not get band 1 for a similar if not bigger deal?

If Austin can get Saad,Williams and Oliver across the line we’ll be saying Stephen who?

It won't be actually

SOS was a tightass with payments, rightfully so given where our list was at.

Whether it was Austin, SOS or any other list manager, the timing to attract quality players was always going to be easier this year and beyond

We just have more money to do it
