I'm just glad Stocker is contracted, so we've at least got another year to assess him. I think we'd consider a trade if means obtaining around Pick 20 from Hawthorn we can then use in a trade, but I doubt they'd pay that much.

I can't see how he fits in next year though. Kemp likely comes into the Round 1 team, and we've just obtained Williams to play in our midfield. We have a bunch of guys vying for a back flank spot, he's not fit enough to play as an outside mid and we've trialled him up forward which didn't really work either...

Wonder if other teams will show some interest and we end up shopping him around?
Not so sure Kemp starts round 1, maybe. I could see Kemp, Stoker and Dow getting three to five game blocks each next year, rotating off the bench with minutes in the middle and minutes elsewhere, forward maybe. Just to see what we’ve got. Would hate to see any of them stuck in the twos for long periods if form warranted games. Getting Williams, presumably as a mid, puts more onus on the young fellas to Have strong reserves form before getting games, as it should be.

Bulldogs poster who has apparently had some accurate mail in the past has been making some pretty definitive calls on Oliver going to Carlton. Mentioned on both the D&T board and the Bulldogs board. Nothing ground breaking, but a rumour nonetheless.

Just want to make a point. Don’t shade on Stocker and Dow and LOB. It’s not their fault they were picked in the first round. They were all rated at the time, so please don’t give me, we missed on Serong, we missed on Cerra, etc. It’s all speculative. Sam Mitchell, James Hird anyone.

The current Premier on top of the Buddy and Roughy wiff, selected Ben Griffiths one pick before Nat Fyffe, Ben Lennon one pick before Crippa, and on the flip side, gave up a first for Yaz. Even the legendary teams have fluffed on the way through.

It’s disappointing if they fail, awesome if they succeed, but in the end, it’s not completely their own fault. We do not have to pick them. Give them all a break, and they are young, give them some time. Everyone said Prestia was a fail, um, no.

And the poster who put up the Petracca example of a slow burn, exactly. He was almost traded, how did that work out. Jack Watts and Jack Trengove are where? There’s a million examples of fails.

It's possible as much as anything can be possible, but there would had to have been a lot of bad blood between both parties, for that to come about.
The only thing that did surprise me in the mix, is that Viney was quick to sign up and on a 5 year contract.
Oliver would be considered as one of the untouchables at Melbourne and he alone makes that midfield different, even though Petracca has added plenty this year.

In other words, it may get discussed and it may even come to the fore....but in the end....odds are it just won't happen.

Would be a massive get but can't see how in practical terms it would get done.

Hard to say. We could theoretically split pick 7, use one on Adam Saad and the other pick plus next years 1st on Oliver. The only problem with that is if Melbourne want a top 10 pick it likely won’t happen if Saad, Williams and Oliver are all incomings. They might ask for a player.

Bit hard when he's not there - it's not the players job to mollycoddle him.

He's decided to sit out a year when he should be busting his gut to prove himself. What has he done to deserve a list spot over Ben Silvagni for instance?

Can definitely see why some teammates may hold little regard for him. More I think about it a new start elsewhere is probably the right call.
Contracted to 2022, first round draft pick, limited exposed form...
Hawks will offer peanuts (like Skrimshaw, Patton,Scully, Ricky Hendersen etc.) and we should rightly say no and hold him to his contract.

Sorry, but he's ineligible as he's still 19.
It's the other guy that needs a good whack.....what's his name? Walsh.

Cripps should take Stocker and Dow under his wing and things will turn around pretty quick.
Agree established players should have mentored these youngsters more closely all are valuable team assets.
I‘m surprised at lack of sensitivity and cohesion form Teaugue too, it’s to the teams detriment that many youngsters are underperforming and languishing.
Their positions are vulnerable , being disillusioned opposition teams will pick them up for zilch.

If it was to happen you are also kissing goodbye to round 1 & 2 this year and round 1 next year.

You’d need to move a player on somewhere to get a second round pick somewhere.

Not possible without losing players. So question is who does carlton have that is worth a second rounder at a minimum, that they are happy to move on. I don’t see much and I don’t think the Dow/O’Brien/Stockers of the world with their body of evidence pulls in that second

That would be a logical solution. I guess at the mercy of what Melb ask, given our committment to Saad and lack of access to another top 10 this year or next. Interesting times this trade period. You get a sense a lot of playing groups and clubs are quite unsettled. Could be a few out of left field that haven't hit the tape yet.

You went through 107 comments to check that?
Took about 1 minute to confirm. I knew from just scrolling past because I saw no Carlton players in the featured comments and given I follow a lot of Carlton players they ordinarly would be the featured comment as they are mutual follows. There weren't any, so I spent 1 minute scrolling through to confirm.

Few posts down in the D&T thread from a Carlton supporter 🤷‍♂️ :
Have it on good authority (Melbourne player) that Carlton offered Clayton Oliver a massive deal but he has knocked it back and intends to stay for much less.
