As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bluemour-file.1085141/

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

Seriously how bad does he play that ball though? He is like an automaton, hey if I thrust my pad wide of off stump i'll be okay, without even looking at the ball.

I would compare it to England’s defenders jogging next to Maradona in 1986. It’s like ****ing kick him.

The ball pitched closer to the return crease than the wickets.

There should have been no need to do anything other than pad it away.

Spectacular delivery.

If we can get this done, it's bound to hurt Goodwin's standing in some fashion.

To say nothing of team morale. Many pawns on this chessboard in play
Depends what the return is and the teams improvement looks like.

Some at Melb may just be a little bit over Oliver, been talk about his attitude towards team mates in the past which is not good for chemistry.

Merrett has publicly committed to * in 2021.

Conspicuously he didn't comment on anything beyond next year (not sure if I'm reading between the lines or if hope is blinding my interpretation).

Could be a gettable RFA target next year. And if * finish near the bottom of the ladder, they might not match.

Would be huge and the exact kind of mid we need.

I hope it is announced that Oliver wants to come to Carlton. You will be able to hear the sound of exploding heads from wherever you are.

It's hard to see that coming about though for several reasons but how will it look for Oliver and Melbourne if he openly expressed his interest to come to Carlton for it not to get done? Bad look for all.

Thanks for insight MS3.

Realistically what would Melb need, to agree to a trade?

Trade Collateral we have:
2020 Picks - 7, 27
Future picks - 2021 1st and 2nd round
Players - Dow, O’Brien’s, Stocker, JSOS, SPS, Kennedy, Cunningham

Also need to keep enough in the kitty to get a trade done for Saad.
Ok, first you need to convince the list of players you have nominated that they are not wanted at the club, and that they want to be at the target club, keeping in mind that if they do not want to go, you will have a very disgruntled and shattered player on your hands until their contract runs out. You also need to convince the other team that the players you don't want at your club are exactly what they need at theirs, good luck with that. If Dees are going to ask for players, they will already be entrenched in our best 22, not the fringe/potential players. Fringe players get chased as value trades to meet needs, not as swaps for elite players.

Melbourne are going to want a kings ransom, even if the rumoured rift is true, you don't let one of your better players go without a fight. They will rightly play hard ball to start with, only Oliver and his management will have any say over how long that will continue and that depends on how serious he is about getting out. Is it just a childish tantrum to gain some love and attention or is it the end of the road at the club and it is untenable for him to stay? Depending where he is on the scale determines if he can get here or not.

Saad will get done for a second with maybe a later pick swap factored in if we get Oliver. Cannot see us holding onto pick 7 in this scenario and it will need all of that and then probably our first next year as well to get Oliver. The best * can hope for is we swap both our firsts for Oliver and the Dees pick 23, which we then give to * for Saad.

We have used about 25 first round picks in the last 5 years, should be able to convince Gill to let us go without for a year or two if needed. Otherwise the blow up will be epic given some teams haven't used any since Walsh was born.

is Oliver a good user of the ball or just an extractor, I haven't seem him play much this year --- seems to me we need more outside quality not inside mid but I guess Cripps does need a hand before he is broken.

Clayton Oliver has been a top 10 midfielder in the league for the last 3 years and is only 22. To get him would be enormous!

Oliver is only coming if a deal can be done.
That makes sense. If a deal cannot be done, not sure the Dees just let him go into the draft while he is still contracted.

I get the feeling Melbourne is saying he's not going anywhere and is pushing that to the media trying to quash the talk, that doesn't mean Oliver himself hasn't asked to move.

There's so much smoke with this one and despite all week everyone in the media saying he's not going anywhere the rumour persists.

I'd say Oliver wants out and Melbourne are trying to kill that idea.

I'd say both clubs are trying to kill the story - it will only go public if a deal can actually get done
