As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bluemour-file.1085141/

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

Melbourne get a bloody good deal with Wines & pick 7 for Oliver. That is an astounding trade from there point of view. No disrespect to Oliver but he ain't no Cripps or CJ!!!

ps. what the hell does Port get for losing Wines. Doing my head in. :D

Look, you can ignore about 85% of my posts. I talk nothing but sh*t for the most part.
That is why you fit in around here ...

Pick 7 and our future first would be pretty good for Oliver. That realistically will be two top 10 picks

Yes there is a difference, so technincally it is 4 saying he wants to come, 2 saying he isn't coming
So all 6 could be correct. If he wants to come, but there is no way Dees are letting him go, then he is not coming, despite wanting to.

I'd say both clubs are trying to kill the story - it will only go public if a deal can actually get done
Yup MFC has been in damage control mode most of last week.Eventually though if the Oliver has decided to walk all the deflecting and background repairs in the world won’t help. this week and next will reveal all.

You reckon with Saad, Williams and Oliver, plus the return of Charlie Curnow will still see us net a top 10 pick next year?

None have said he's coming have they?
Just that he wants to. That is a very big difference, and should influence your expectations.

Yep. If anything, EB said (paraphrasing) it’s hard to see how we satisfy Melbourne.

Personally, I don’t see it getting done. The cost is too great.

Yep will be like the first year of Bryce Gibbs negotiations all over again..... Melb will want too much and no deal will get done.

I agree, the only difference being Gibbs was happy to stay if a suitable deal could not be done. I hope Oliver doesn’t feel the same way 😊

Correct.

We've had some serious ITK posters now confirm Oliver wants to come to Carlton. I'm inclined to believe them, there's simply too much noise for it to not be true IMO.

There's a HUGE difference between that though and Oliver actually coming to Carlton.

Given his importance to Melbourne and his contract status I can't see a deal getting done here.

I find it hard to believe we could be done with trading, Oliver wants to come and Melbourne are unhappy with his off field attitude, Oliver is being used as a smokescreen for another player and we will only get him if Saad goes to the PSD can all be true.

He would be a great get but I will wait until the deal is done before getting too excited, especially after the way last year played out.

It sounds like he wants to come, but still can't see a deal getting done.

Also, seeing Richmond on the weekend and the powerhouse they have built from a simple mix of 1st rounders, decent trades, development of rookies and a rock-solid culture, I've got no problem with going down the same route. They recruited Lynch of course but that was after they won 2017 easy.

The route we're going down with recruiting everyone we can is a bit Essendon-ish. Williams and Saad will be fantastic pick ups, happy to leave it there and build from within, unless something lands in our lap for cheap.

is Oliver a good user of the ball or just an extractor, I haven't seem him play much this year --- seems to me we need more outside quality not inside mid but I guess Cripps does need a hand before he is broken.
He cops similar criticism to Cripps for his disposal. It's not great, but I don't think it's quite as bad as some would have you believe. It's just not consistent.

Splitti
7 tied to the Saad deal, either directly or more than likely indirectly via Geelong in a split for 13 & 18 ?

Splitting 7 is the pivotal play.

Late 1st, early 2nd (equivalent) for Saad, maybe a 3rd back our way (but we don't need picks? We do need a KPD and a small forward - rookie?)

So Oliver gets the Dees - our future 1st (they'll presume that's a top 10 pick), our current 1st (the leftover from the split of #7) and steak knives, if necessary.

How is that not ample in light of the Judd, Shiel, Treloar, Neale deals?
