As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bluemour-file.1085141/

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

I'm amazed at the hate for Treloar?

What is stopping him from continuing on as a top 30 mid?

I feel like Paddy Dows ceiling is what Treloar is doing now.

We brought it up here a few days back and it was discussed on TR yesterday -

1. The cost is too high.
2. Contract length is too long
3. Soft tissue concerns

In summary - The risk vs reward may be too high and attaining Treloar may likely preclude us from targeting other key players next year.
We get this one wrong and we could be screwed.

Is this the beginning of a media-drive to push Treloar onto us? Not that I'm against Treloar particularly.

Sounds like Treloar will stay at Collingwood if you believe Mitch Cleary

Wildly speculating about Cripps - our captain - leaving - for clicks - when he knows his character - is a bit much.

IF there is some truth to Cripps thinking about going back to WA, then SOS (and others) have every right to talk about it.

If it's complete BS, made up to stir the pot.... then that's very disappointing.

How about this as a trade scenario?
Treloar to Melbourne
Oliver to Carlton
Pick 13 (from Geelong as part of splitting Pick 7) to Collingwood
Future first round pick to Melbourne
Treloar is the perfect fit for their slow midfield but do they want him??

As if SOS would be the only one speculating about Cripps' future?

Look at it this way. If Cripps is 100% invested in seeing Carlton up the top of the ladder again, and has no intention of bailing - then SOS would know that. He was running our list management team until the end of last year.

So if he's now deliberately misrepresenting the intentions of a player, contrary to actual knowledge of that players intentions, and doing so to create tension in the media...yeah, I reckon the player would be a bit pissed.

Tom Browne can speculate all he likes. SOS is in a position to know.

He's either right, or he's lying.

When the club is linked with a fringe/role player from another club, the compulsion that some have to effectively say "I'd rather player A", who is inevitably one of that sides better or more highly touted players is akin to stating the bleeding obvious.
It'd be like after the Bombers being linked to Dow/Lob as part of the Saad trade if their supporters stated that they'd rather Walsh or Setters.

As I've said, no reason an entirely new contract can't be drawn up if he's agreeable (& hopefully provided the Pies square him off to some degree)

SOS's knowledge of Crippas view are 12 months out of date, aren't they? Might not be the current view?

Maybe I've missed something -

What is it exactly that SOS has said in regards to Cripps, that is clearly out of line.
I haven't heard anything that remotely rests on it being something that should not be said.

I don't care to hear the idea of Cripps leaving us and he won't but - There has been speculation about Merrett, about Wines, about Oliver....
Is it that an ex-Carlton person should not be discussing issues about the club he has not been a part of for the best part of a year?
There have been some great insights about our LM strategy coming from SOS.......or at least for me. The fact there's a couple of things we don't want to hear doesn't discredit the rest. As I said - Maybe we have to take the good with the bad.....can't have it one way only.

I don't know SOS but I get him and maybe that makes it just a little easier to skim over things I may not, with others.

Of course not but unlike most, SOS would likely have an existing relationship with Cripps.
The words of friends, family etc are more cutting than those of a stranger.

As an ex-employee he can do and say whatever he likes and I don't believe that it would have worried Cripps one little bit. He's in the media, he will pass comment on things and he will be asked Carlton centric questions. No big deal.

SOS is loyal to whoever is paying him and that is fair enough, it makes perfect sense.

Just did a quick google-reno and saw Ross won the Saints B&F in 2019... such a fall from grace. Was it purely role-related due to the inclusions? Gresh was out of their midfield all year and Hill is outside...

Does anyone watch the Saints have an educated comment on him? The Seb Ross in this video looks like a great inclusion and won't cost much.

But which Ross would you get?

Yeah not sure the reason for the drop off this year but was on the rise in 18-19, but at 27 I just don’t see the need for him as I think Setters for one will go past him as a player next year and we already have a heap of younger and arguably more talented players coming through would be surplus to needs imo.

I don't know how you'd do that though.
Sure we'd get something back from Collingwood, but do we want 5 years?

Treloar will still want his ~900K over whatever the course of the new contract may be.
Trim a year or two off that and the cost may yet still be around the 900K mark to us and again preclude us from looking at players next year, when we'll know a lot more about our squad.

Way too big a risk. I wouldn't look at it regardless of what may come back from Collingwood.....unless they paid half the contract....which they wouldn't do.
That would completely defeat the purpose of what they're trying to do.
