As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bluemour-file.1085141/

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

Remember ... #Bluemour

So... I had to call the club because there was a problem with my membership renewal. I spoke with a Nick, who I naturally assume was Nick Austin.

I asked him if I could get Clayton Oliver’s picture on my card next year. His response was ‘haha that’s be nice wouldn’t it!’.

I’m no ITK but there was a tone in his voice that made me feel he knew more than he was letting on. so I say Clarry to be a blueboy 2021. Lock it in the Bank!!

mods feel free to add to the no discussion thread 👍

I don't think so.

As an ex-employee he can do and say whatever he likes and I don't believe that it would have worried Cripps one little bit. He's in the media, he will pass comment on things and he will be asked Carlton centric questions. No big deal.

SOS is loyal to whoever is paying him and that is fair enough, it makes perfect sense.

I think football supporters stress too much about this sort of thing. There’s also this notion that if your club haggles over a player you want in trade negotiations, it somehow offends the player. I reckon that couldn’t be further from the truth, imo a player would be thrilled if the club he is being traded to uses a 2nd rounder rather than a 1st rounder for his services. Patrick Cripps probably didn’t have any sleepless nights over what SOS was saying.

Plenty of players historically played for one club with liitle success.
R. Flower a classic example.
It's something that garners respect more than chasing glory.

That's true Blue but there's also been plenty who moved clubs late in their careers to achieve the ultimate success. We had a few ourselves including Greg Williams and Greg Wells, players like Stan Alves who did it at North, others left their clubs and it didn't quite work out.

That at a time where player movement was less than what it is now.

It certainly doesn't help his legacy or path forward to reconciliation. You can still be in the media and not spray your club.
Not really. You're either in it fully or you're in it conditionally.

I'm waiting for Patrick from the membership department to call me this afternoon :p , maybe I'll ask him what his intentions are for 2022

For sure. Its funny how Diesel is a legend for us but Wells has never been included as really a part of Carlton. Have to say that crossing never sat right with me at the time. Murky stuff.

Cripps didn't appreciate SOS comments and speculation regarding his future, eager to put pen to paper as he doesn't want it to become a distraction but understands holding off will give us greater flexibility.

Cripps is the ultimate team man. What a LEGEND!

How has he been dishonest? There's nothing in whatever he has said that says to me he's being dishonest.
My intuition says his perspective of the Saad trade isn’t honest I don’t think he as a list manager would give u pick 7 on its own for Saad and this is what he has stated as accepted fact we have to do
His comments are recorded we should be happy with Williams and Saad for pick 7
When really pushed said maybe something back
For me if it smells and looks like bullshit it’s usually bullshit I don’t know his motives
His perspective on this trade doesn’t gel with the list manager from a year ago

I'd hate for our game to follow the lead of the NBA, where you're almost considered a failure if you don't win a ring.
Which has lead to vets with great records of their own right, selling themselves out to a contender as if it in any way enhances their legacy.

I don't know why anyone's the least bit concerned that the club will hand pick 7 (or whatever it ends up being) to * for Saad.

Our position couldn't be simpler: "listen Dodo, if you keep insisting on our first pick, we'll just ask Adam to nominate for the National Draft and take him with our first pick". * get nothing, we get Saad for the same price they're asking for anyway. There is no way in hell they use one of their treasured early draft picks to redraft a 26yo who doesn't want to be there, nor are any of the other clubs with top 10 picks.

Dodo would have to be an even bigger moron than we think he is to let that happen.

This trade radio gig of Silvagni's has people swinging at shadows.

Seriously, every gun player who has a year or less to run on their contract, heading into free agency, is speculated on by the media. The fact that a former list manager did it, shouldn't raise an eyebrow with any player really. They'd be used to it and it doesn't affect their circumstances at all.

Just did a quick google-reno and saw Ross won the Saints B&F in 2019... such a fall from grace. Was it purely role-related due to the inclusions? Gresh was out of their midfield all year and Hill is outside...

Does anyone watch the Saints have an educated comment on him? The Seb Ross in this video looks like a great inclusion and won't cost much.

But which Ross would you get?

If Saad is worth pick 7+ Based on three top four B&F finishes, what is * paying for twice B&F Ross?

SOS is going to get very tiresome on trade radio. Especially with overvaluing Saad and Cripps talk.

He knows Cripps will never go.

I have never listened to TR. Everything is posted on here within seconds anyway. It pretty much eliminates having to listen to the likes of Cornes.

As for Essendon wanting Pick 7 for Saad, that doesn't mean that's the price we pay. Most seem to accept splitting or pick with Geelong and giving one to Essendon. Maybe Essendon would prefer to give us something back to produce similar value?

Let's just see how it pans out.

True, if it just becomes untenable with the pies and say he has only 1 club interested at a revised contract deal.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

We offer him say 3 years (+ options) at $600k a year.

Pies cough up (a negotiated) $200k a year over 3 years to 'settle'.

Pies save $700k A YEAR in years 1-3, $900k thereafter.
