As per the Bluemour File OP, this is a thread for discussing Carlton related rumours.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bluemour-file.1085141/

Rumour posters should post their rumours in both threads for those that like just to read rumours and for those that like to have get lost in their rumour files.

He asked for Curnow or Mackay first. Just coming back from deluded!
Couldn’t believe Ross Lyon back then trying to say Saad was worth 7 + TDK. Talk about taking the micky. Sam MacClure just looked at the camera like “now you’ve heard it all folks”.

Someone posted that Lyon was hopeful of a role at * and was doing them a solid with his statement.

Austin and Co are getting tested - like all noobies they might fear standing up to experienced bully they might have a bully standing over their shoulders wanting some 'action' the type of bully who doesn't mind overspending if it helps him meet his KPI's

- all they have to do is man up and Redfern Kiss the tossa from Essendone.

Ok so this being the case why can’t we do that with Saad?
We can, also need to make an attempt to get a deal done first. Would be a pricks act to not at least listen to what * are offering behind closed doors and see if there is a reasonable compromise available. It may be very different to what is in the media.

Don't really care what other clubs think of us, do care what potential players think our MO is. Would be hard for us to get players to nominate if they think we are going to risk their goodwill and try and screw over their existing club. No way we want potential player to feel like we will leave them vulnerable for any other team to pick them up in the preseason draft, purely for the sake of getting them cheaply.

We have already proven we are willing to go this route if forced to, don't need to make it a needless habit.

I’m as anti-dodo as anyone here but we need to remember that we pursued Saad. We knew Dodo was the list manager and what was about to happen re: his unrealistic demands.

We saw the barking dog foaming at the mouth, jumped the fence anyway and now we shouldn’t complain if we get bitten.

Next time, focus on players from the other 16 clubs.

This is exactly what Dodo wants...I’ll be a dick to deal with then you’ll leave my players alone.

A bit of Kennedy v Kruschev going on here - all eyes on Austin!

A lot of discussion is ignoring the actual statements from relevant parties out there in teh public domain...

Statement #1 came from Saad's own management- if Essendone are unwilling to act fairly - there is always the PSD route... card was played by teh player's management and put out to the press weeks ago...

Statement #2 came out from Essendone - how Saad was not a team player etc etc

shortly afterwards the Essendone Director of Football or whatever- was fired.

Essendone actually have a weak hand - the only pressure on Carlton to give more than is fair is Carlton conjuring and that is based on the reverse error of SOS's last year - which was waiting tow weeks for a no on Papley huge error by SOS - this year the error was premature announcement before all the ducks were actually lined up...

All these pages and pages of nuff nuffery mostly igmnoring the only facts on the public reccord.

One could argue that Kennedy fluked it despite never being the brains of the operation - if Austin follows suit, let's hope he does a better job of surviving the aftermath ;)
Genuinely the scariest moment in modern nuclear history - this trade scenario is creampuff stuff...

If we trade our first this year and no first comes back, we won't be able to trade 21 and 22 firsts for a gun mid next year. And we don't want to wreck our cap walking players to the draft.

So really, our only option is to split the pick and try to get a 20 first and a 21 first.
The gamble is if Ess take it (would be particularly bad trading if they didn't), and try to get a gun to choose us this year and use the 2x21 firsts to do it, otherwise have a dip next year with said currency.

There is no other option.
Do it now Blues, and let Dodo and the Ess heirarchy stew on what to do with Saad and our late first until the end of trade week. We will still have time to move on another target in the meantime.

There is no other choice.

How effective is this strategy when they will eventually need to deal with clubs for their own targets?

Well we saw what happened with Shiel.

When he wants a player, like Dunkley, he’ll either try jack hammer them out or leave it up to the player/agent to do the dirty work.

I assume he felt he probably had no choice during the drugs saga...needed to stop the exodus. May have worked for him and now has run with that persona.

And why not? They only have a limited time in the game and the good ones can set themselves up for life beyond footy. Keep gettin’ them cheques! Stay at Sadelaide and finish in the bottom 4 while they nurture kids or take one last big payday and play finals (probably). I’d take the cheque!
Yeh of course he should look after himself and go to north for big bucks but do we really want players looking for their pay day or players that want succes? I feel like crouch falls into the first category

He is going to the Saints. They all want to play finals, easy to argue that this move affirms that view. Adelaide will not feature in major finals in Crouch’s window. Keep gettin’ them cheques too.

Edit: can’t see how we were going to get him anyway given our targets and cap.
