Will share my full thoughts after the trade/draft period is over, but a quick summary on Saad deal

Initially values Saad at pick 13, which is clearly overs, but...

Picks 48 and 78 will come in dramatically, which will push the trade value closer to 18

Pick 48 is gone so that only benefits Geelong.

So We'll take 30, 51 and 78 to the draft and have to take someone with 30 and 50?

Jeez

Folded which is disappointing but that’s the kind of deal you have to expect when you choose to deal with Essendon. We will probably do pick swaps to push up the order a bit this year.

Welcome Adam! He and Williams will be serious weapons off half back.
They are holes in our list and they are ball carriers. We don't have any and we need finals now, however, I'd like to see a harder side to Austin

There is no defending this trade, Austin should be looking for a new job. We have been saving up cap space for 5 years to use on two half back flankers.
Obvious you're not thinking premierships like the list management.

I am very confident/willing to bet that the player picked up with pick 8 (or whatever it becomes) in the draft, will not or never be as good as Adam Saad.

Think people are placing too much stock in Saad's age, if he was 23 or 24, we would be dancing on the ceiling.

Yes I agree we probably blinked/paid slight overs, but I think its important to show other star player managers around the league that we can get deals and trades done for players who want to come play for Carlton

That better be a firm hand. If we succumb to Dodoro's demand, our club will suffer a loss in its reputation. Hopefully we trade pick 8 now to remove any doubt there is a possibility of a deal.
a loss in its reputation? how far down to think we've sunk?

People saying we folded, we offered this last week without the late pick swapin our favour, it was not is that folded as we got the trade we originally wanted. DoDo folded as he tried giving us pick 67 or nothing at all
Well if we offered this previously it was a crap deal. Just handed our arch enemy a leg up and let them dictate terms to us on an uncontracted player.

Very easy to say that we flinched. When you have a seat at the table its a different kind of pressure and decisions need be within a bees d1ck of being precise.

I'm ok with the decision..need to move on.

Spot on - people forget there are other people on the other side o the table.

We'd also courted Saad and agreed a deal with him. We had to do the trade. North and Hawthorn would have easily taken him in the PSD.

Do you reckon Clarko would care if he hadn't had a medical or didn't want to meet with them.

Paid overs for Saad, will probably pay unders for Fogarty... Not a bad result, but we blinked on the Saad deal.

Wonder if splitting the picks wasn't an option in the end, with other teams not wanting to give up multiple firsts? Geelong needed them for Cameron, Brisbane probably want to take a couple of firsts to the draft than a singular lower pick, Collingwood will trade out of next years draft at a later stage...

Can only do what other teams will allow you to do in these circumstances.
