2 offers being weighed up for Macreadie and O'Brien
Good chance a deal gets done today
Would certainly help the list squeeze and give a few players a good night sleep. Hope we don't throw them away cheaply if the interest has come to us.

Future picks or moving higher in the draft would be ideal, though I'd rather keep HMac. That Geelong want him is enough to suggest he's a keeper.

If Pies put anything close to a future 2nd for LOB, unfortunately I think we'll take it (would be good value for his output to date).

Gotta wonder if we do lose 2 x players, whether we offset them with a surprise last-minute inclusion (not draft pick) like a Menegola/Hewett type.

Why would you deal either unless for a very specific purpose or new player.

Macreadie's a potential KPD but isn't worth much trade wise - and we're rather short on tall defender types.

LOB? Arguably surplus to needs, but again, why trade him unless it's a humdinger of a deal, or a necessary one (to achieve an end).

LOB + ? to Swans for Hewett - do that in a heartbeat.

So can somebody confirm or deny for me.....if we don’t need LOB’s potential compensation for another deal, pick swap or player, why sell him for chips ? Wouldn’t we just keep him on the list and persevere for at least another year ?
Can only guess it is related to list size if we are prepared to let them go. Prefer to keep Kennedy than have him squeezed.
seems a bit strange, but one wing likely rotation Walsh, Setterfield, Williams and Newnes, Willo and a couple of others vying for the other.

I'd be surprised if a club was offering enough to entice us...would expect low offers for both players. Would prefer we just held onto them.
If we trade them for meh picks, it would really signal Teague doesn't rate them.

Might be a good idea to try and get something for Macreadie, spends way too long on our injury list.

Hope we keep Kennedy, I thought he had some really good games as an on baller this year.

My worry about Hewett is that I keep reading he has a pretty bad back injury...Swans posters can't see any other reason the club would be willing to trade him.

O'Brien very much tradeable imo, future second would be very nice for next year if we could get it.

I hope this isn't seen as an attack on him but I'm not a fan and don't think trading him would ever come back to haunt us.

Future second would give us another trade asset for any potential big name signing we go for next year.

But can't see any world where Collingwood give it to us for LOB who is currently a fair way off our best 22...we'd at the very least need to give them some pick upgrades in later rounds.

& Murphy, and possibly Marchbank (often touted as a spot for Marchy by CFC).

Macreadie has more value with us than what he would return in a potential trade. It's not worth losing him for a token pick.

As for LOB, a f2 from Pies would be a great result imo. Anything less than that and we keep him.

This is precisely my thoughts.

I note both LOB and Dow had throwaway years as there was no genuine reserves to develop. So can’t be judged on 2020. More upside than people think for mine.

We knew this had to be coming. We've been stockpiling young talent for ******* years now; of course - now that there's a bit more to go on, and this draft is perceived as a crapshoot - other clubs were going to come knocking.

This needn't be a bad thing.
Not only that, with the inclusions LOB may not see where he gets a game with us.
It may be us much as we are trying to do the right thing by the player as much as anything else.

Yep we're going to have to get used to losing promising/decent players...it's a sign we're finally a good team with lots of depth and players other clubs are interested in. Something we're not used to.

It's highly unlikely all of Stocker/Dow/LOB/Kemp/Philp become long term Carlton players. Something has to give.

Honestly it’s a good thing other teams are looking at our fringe players for once. Shows how far we have come with our depth. All good clubs have this happening.

Realistically Macreadie has barely played a game in two years. LOB has many players in front of him. Get a return in draft picks and a small amount of cap space. Can get DFAs or draftees to fill the void if needed.

Yep close unless you count disposal efficiency, bounces and one percentage as important.
As I said, close but with points of difference, if you value the goals more highly, you'd rate Tuohy higher.
Stats tell part of the picture but watching games tells more. I reckon that stats would tell us that Jimmy plunkett was an excellent footballer. He wasn't though.

Not sure if your modus operandi is to downplay saad or paint the picture that we overpaid for him but think that you will be pleasantly surprised next year.
My agenda (that's the incorrect use of modus operandi by the way) is simple; you were having a go at a poster who made an extreme claim in one direction - that we paid 3 times Saad's actual worth, by making an extreme suggestion in the other direction. You asked them to tell you what they thought Doc is worth.

Sam Docherty is more than just an out-of-contract attacking HBF, he is a) contracted, b) our backline general, and c) a co-captain of the club. Therefore you were attempting to use an equally poor, possibly more exaggerated comparison to win your argument.

I was suggesting that you find a better example for your comparison. And yes, in the process you might discover - as many on here have acknowledged - that we overpaid for Saad. Not to the extent that the other poster was suggesting perhaps, but overpaid nonetheless.

Assuming it's Collingwood after O'Brien and the talk they were open to trade their 2021 1st round.... Would the pies take our future 2nd + O'Brien for their future 1st?

We couldn't sign off on that deal quick enough. :)

That's not going to happen, but if it did - A+++ trade period.

There's no way we get for Macreadie anything that would make it worth trading him.

Only to do Macreadie a favour if he wanted to go. That's it. A pick ~#70 would do nothing for us.
