We don't need to go for a big name but we absolutely need another key forward on the list, be it this year or next.

Harry and Charlie are excellent but neither are consistent and certainly not durable.
Casboult is a warrior but at 30/31 doesn't have long left in him.
TDK is exciting but the club sees him more as a ruck who can rest forward.
Moore who...may not even be on the list currently.

There's obviously plenty of talent there but there simply is not enough depth.
Daw is clearly the best short term option. Can cover kpf/ruck/kpd on a rookie contract. A clear upgrade on Moore. Just need to know where his head is at. Only needs to be a crash and bash stop gap.

We have Sam Ramsay too haven’t heard too much about him or if he’s developing well or not? Does anyone have an update?

Hard year to gauge but think excess to needs out on the park. We have others to play midfield, if all fit.

Lack of numbers in the trial games pushed him all around the ground from the reports.

Wouldn't mind looking at Sam Durdin on the Rookie list as someone who can cover Key Back Forward and Ruck.
Was a supremely rated junior, and battled for consistency with game play and injury at North.

Macreadie to the rookie list if there’s players for the taking for 2yrs. Much required position wise, minus the constant injured status.

We could also keep spots open for the supp period & mid-season drafts.

Agreed

Especially having a spot open for the mid season draft

I like Daw and if given another opportunity it may just trigger him to excell,
Versatile, athletic, strong, some X factor too, for a Rookie spot is worth a gamble.
Reckon with a some mentoring, fresh environment , may be a positive.

I liked the look of Durdin but he never seemed to make the next step in improvement - not sure of his current suitability for us.

Daw would probably be a better stop gap option in that he can fill in for multiple roles (especially once Casboult is done). Has all the physical traits to be real presence, especially down back where the game plan is a bit simpler.

Because we need an insurance policy for Charlie who may or may not spend his career in and out of the sick bay. It is looking increasingly likely injury and rehab will be a tone for his career.
Bit early to call that I reckon. Couple of instances of bad luck.

Sam is not the Durdin I would be looking to add to the list.

Paddy's got some work to do.

Although the start to Walsh’s career has been amazing and Dow’s only average - I am going to risk being ridiculed here and say that I still think Dow has more upside than Walsh. I believe Walsh will be a 300 + gamer, a champion of the club and probably our next captain.

But... I am happy for anyone to come back at me in two years and throw egg on my face... I think Dow will put it together and with his burst speed and evasiveness - he will be one of the better players in the Como in the next 10 years. His season this year was a write off but he will break out and surprise next year. I think he will be more composed and that will in turn improve his kicking efficiency. I have faith he will be a gun.And like Walsh, a 300 gamer.

I saw that too, but without evidence, it's hard to qualify it.
Dow has always been he mid we need...not the forward pocket...not a wingman...but a smack in the middle explosive midfielder.

It may yet come and all being well it shall....but and like Stocker. We know what they can do, but now we have to see it.

Daw would be smart to go to * as he would get a game there most weeks.

Yes - I’ll wash my fingers after typing this post....

I can’t see it in Paddy yet, things can change though just a baby in his AFL career, but hope all our youngsters develop to their best potential.

You would be even happier if in two years, no one can throw egg on your face for this. :)

Unless we get a similar type through the draft, I would more than happy to add him as a cover option

Understand the logic but daw is done. Bigger turning circle than andre the giant. Pace on a similar level.

I know he hasn't had the best couple of years at our club, but McGovern will still be played by Teague.
And Jack plays as that 3rd tall.
I feel like we have other areas that need to be addressed this year and next ahead of another KPF.
