Hate to break it to you but he is done. He won’t play a single game in 2021. We will be lucky to see anymore from him.
It's an understandable call. I too don't expect to see him in 2021. The injury he has isn't one you just get over. I have my fingers crossed however

Is this based on your extensive medical experience or a guess? From all accounts his surgeon is quite confident, the club is quite confident. Time will tell I guess.

This is an internet forum, we should be reading into everything, sometimes we will be right, sometimes we will be wrong and sometimes inconclusive.

For example

I was smashing out some interval training on new year's eve (morning) at an oval in Ocean Grove.

In between sets I see some young buck approaching the oval in a Messi soccer jersey, assuming he would be a flog because soccer sucks and not as cool as me in my Zach Lavine jersey, I thought I would be burning him off with my sprint power.

Turned out it was Sam Walsh and instead of standing still between sets of sprints/battling a spew, he glided past in a jog that was as fast as my sprints.

I got that one wrong.

After the experience of sharing an oval with Walsh (one I would compare the excitement to seeing a whale in wild), I took the dog down to the beach and none other than Matt Cottrell said "g'day mate, nice dog"....

Most would think, what a nice young man....not me, I read into it.

What is Matt Cotrell, a mornington local doing in Ocean Grove? And if he is here, why is he not catching up with Walshy (and me) to do some training?

Is there a rift between the two young match winners?

I think we should consider that the most logical scenario is yes.

Pretty sure he swam there and was just having a breather

Deadly

I didn't speak to Sam Walsh during our intensive workout together 2 days ago, but from what I could tell as he ran past me is that he would agree with my point of view on this one.

So now you know where me and Walshy sit on the matter.

Does anyone have any Intel on Curnow or just going by the odds of how long he has been out vs others that return with similar time out?

I would prefer the club under promise and over deliver on this front.

Probably just going by how long others have been out but more than that, Curnow last played halfway through 2019. It’s 2021 now and it doesn’t sound like he will play this year. Getting excited about Curnow and McKay playing in the same forward 50 does seem more like a pipe dream these days, so I can see where our fans might start losing hope and I am an optimistic sort of person.

An unidentified Carlton player which seems to be Matthew Kennedy, has elected to stay in NSW with his family, rather than coming back to Victoria before border closures. Carlton will now work on getting him back to the state, with clubs set to resume training on Wednesday.

Where is this from?

From an AFL news/rumours Instagram account which I follow. I'll see if I can find the exact name and post a screenshot if you would like.

You need to include a link when quoting an outside source.

The club has stated they expect him back mid season, so take that as you like.

There seems to be a certain element out there that take delight in saying he’ll never play again, don’t believe them. It’s a bad injury but players have come back from it, some better than before some worse. Time will tell.

FWIW I had a mate give me a tid bit about Curnow from someone that knows him... still in his knee brace as of 21st December..but no bad news otherwise.

Who has come back better than before from this injury?

I found a research article a few weeks back about sports players coming back from patella injuries... not AFL though. Off to catch a flight now so don’t have time to find the link but doctor google can help as that’s how I found it.
