I just can’t see Buckley having any team other than Collingwood on his playing and coaching record. If Ross the boss gets the call up to a club, a spot next to Eddie on footy classified awaits for Bucks.

Clubland language = he is absolutely the coach and has the backing of the board
Translation = dead man walking

Your reply much more detailed than mine.
That's because late last year, I watched a pretty comprehensive summary video on the two reports. The guy doing the video went pretty deep, despite it being a summary, into the two reports and the disparate findings in both reports. It was actually a good video :D

I wouldn't read too much into my use of the word. I was using it for convenience to describe a strong personality that commands respect. That personality being supported by his on field triumphs could be someone players would look up to naturally.

Based on what you've said that second example is the definition I'd consider closer to what I was thinking. I've never read those stories but that's certainly closer to my beliefs as to what an alpha would be.
It's actually quite scary that a lot of people seem to accept the findings of the first report as the ultimate definition of an Alpha male. I'll find the summary video I watched last year and DM it to you. Excellent video :D

David Mech, who introduced the concept of the alpha wolf, spent the rest of his career trying get people to forget about it. Debunked but still believed.
That's the dude :D

I think Hodge has a different level of emotional intelligence.

Reckon he'd make a great coach, very hard nosed but will know when and how much to pull it back, and for who.

The fact he is in the media and has chosen not to get involved in clubland suggests he may have no interest in coaching

People thought the same of Voss, Bucks and Hird once.
And they were not wrong either.
Voss wanted a premiership in his first 2 years and recruited that way, Destroyed the club
Buckley came on 2 years too early, Malthouse should have extracted a bit more from that group. We suffered for that
Hird, brought the wrong people in, because he thought everyone was doing it. Showed remarkable resilience under white hot heat though

voss did a 2 year apprenticeship
Hird didn't, straight to senior coach
Buckley, 2 years under malthouse.

all not enough IMO

He was semi coaching at Brisbane when he was there. The media is a platform to show the industry and garner acceptance from fans
its profile building with insightfulness and temperament on display. Still will have to do a senior assistants apprenticeship (if in fact he wants to go down that path)

I would naturally have considered the second stories philosophy even before those stories. I'm naturally drawn to that stylr for a few reasons, but won't go into it all here 😅

The first description is still often celebrated, though. It's very old school mindset which doesn't really fit today.

Ok I'm looking forward to the vid :thumbsu:

anyone have any idea why cripps hasnt signed yet? According to Liddle he should have signed about a month ago??
According to Liddle it achieved a spike in membership sales that quip. Thats all he cares about.

Cripps has been signing since trade week last year... they keep feeding us whatever spin we will believe to keep us on the hook

Really???

Hird brought in two people who drugged his players because he couldn't take losing to Carlton in a final.

Voss could not stay in his own lane, and completely ****ed that club for nigh on a decade.

Bucks dismantled a list that won a premiership in 2010 because he couldn't win an argument with the rat pack. 2017 was the year in which the club pretty much sat on his shoulders and forced him to take a deep breath and a step back; him taking time away and letting other people do their jobs made Collingwood a better side.

God, but the urge to edit history happens entirely too often on this board. FFS.

Nobody ever thought that of Hird... unless you support the drug cheats.
Tell that to 17SetMeFree, who tells me as a replay:
