Still can’t warm to the appointment of Voss.

However, I got it completely wrong with Teague. Carrying on that it would be a club-destroying decision if we didn’t appoint him after the momentum he’d built during his stint as caretaker, relationship with the players etc.

Nothing we can do now but support Voss and hope he is the man to unlock the enormous potential in this playing group.

Teague had to go. No way they could risk another year.

Then we get Voss, who did worse. Teague at least had our 2nd best results this century, even if the bar was low. Probably shows the issue is the culture and not the coach. Maybe look at the playing group and their lack of real effort with a number of coaches. Does a coach no good. If you're getting Voss then you may as well have kept Teague. Another year of Teague, if he struggled again, meant we would have more choice of experienced coaches, including Clarko. Voss is the Bradbury, as if the Scotts, or Buckley, for example, were available, Voss wouldn't have got a look in. If he does well, great, happily eat the humble pie, but if he struggles then we watch the likes of Clarko go other places while we have Voss. We looked for experience and it is ironic the 5 years of failure at Brisbane was the thing that got Voss over the line ahead of Kingsley.

I think you're grossly underestimating how bad Teague was.
And surely the Senior Coach is a chief driver of the culture?

Teague had 2nd best results that were trending down with our best list, which should be trending up.... Bolts did more good for the club during the tough parts of the rebuild. 5eague was just rotting the foundations that had been laid.

Yet another sliding door moment for the club, for once this century I hope and pray we get this one right 🤞

My opinion, I think Voss will be so much more rounded and wise this time around. The club absolutely need to ensure he has everything he needs to succeed, go over the soft cap if needed. We would have by a shitload getting in Clarkson.

We have duly noted your concerns. As such there is no need to continue with them as they have been duly noted.

Not convinced that your user name shouldn't be "jimwhowhingesalot".

I don’t understand all the hate re: Voss. I rated him at brissy if you put the first couple of years of “crazy Vossy” aside. I thought he was coaching fairly well in his last year or two and was stiff to miss on another contract.

He was made aware of where he fell short at Brisbane and has actively tried to better himself since - namely in leadership & empathy. Where he was seen to have shortfalls originally, he’s now touted as being incredibly good in those same areas by Port players & staff.

Either way, he’s now the Carlton coach and so I back him all the way. Bring us #17, Vossy!

Yeah, I wanted Teague because I thought losing the continuity with bringing in a new coach would waste more time after we'd just blown 2 years. I was clearly wrong and we just wasted another 2.

Let's hope Vossy gets us to where we should be.
