But that's the whole point, they aren't gone and I speculated that Brander may not want to wait those years.

Barass, Cole and Rotham look to be their key defense going forward. Edwards has had games too and looked ok. Allen can swing both ends very well but long term looks like their forward. Darling is only 30 and who knows how long he'll play. Waterman is a very good young forward too.

They may even look to add to their key defender pool or use Allen there for a few years and see.

They are stacked.

Barass is a great KPP
Cole is 186cm not KPP
Rotham 193 cm so same height as Plowman hardly KPP in todays game

If you swing Allen back and have lost Kennedy and Darling starting to slow, are you going to rely on Waterman at 191cm

IMO they have every reason to want to retain Brander, and yet they are not. Doesnt smell right to me.

Yep definitely strange.
If he's not heavily into drugs or gambling, could be a good Levi replacement, versatile KPP who can contribute in passing chains

If its for a fourth round draft pick, you get it done and back in your culture too. I feel WAY more comfortable saying this now with Cook as CEO.

Sounds to me like thinking Eddie Betts can turn around every wayward indigenous player and Andrew Russell can resolve everyone's injuries.

No, but a strong culture, with robust systems in place certainly cannot hurt ;)

Dees have just built a well balanced list, strong defence, strong midfield and strong versatile forwards with many layers.

2 very good rucks, KPP's that didn't even get a look in for the GF, even brought in Brown etc (can never have enough KPP). Bar Brisbane dynasty the best balanced list for a long while.
Yep. Scarey list. Biggest hurdle (mental pressure from a 57 year drought) already smashed. Richmond had a list of a handfull of good players and the rest well-drilled soldiers and they won 3 in 4 years. Melbourne could possibly do a 4-peat.

They will have MAJOR salary cap pressure in the next 2 years ;)

They strike me as a team that will all take a hit in the pay packet if they need to get someone good in to keep the flags coming.

Time will only tell ... Petracca will be due a very big contract, same as Fritz if he continues to perform at these levels.

As I've said, Cole plays a very similar role to Plowman in that he has played on 2nd talls as well as mediums/smaller types. Rotham's height doesn't change the fact that he has played CHB just like it doesn't Cole.

Jack Riewoldt, Jack Gunston - 193cm. Charlie Curnow, Brody Mihocek - 192cm. Jack Darling, Mitch McGovern - 191cm. Josh Corbett - 190cm. Tim Membrey - 188cm.

Waterman averages over 5 marks a game (elite) and is a very promising young key forward. He's literally the same height as Darling. Height doesn't change what role they play.

They're losing Burgess the fitness guru this year. The injuries start arriving and things change.

Cole KP?

Would we be interested in any depth players from Melbourne who missed out on the GF to cover a role for us ? E.G
Jayden Hunt
Jake melksham
Joel Smith 3rd tall?

Cole plays a similar role to Plowman. I've seen both of them take on 2nd talls just as they play on smaller types too.
It might have happened once or twice out of desperation but Cole as a key defender is hardly a long term solution. Same goes for Plowman.
